Hlo all- I read most all of this thread. Yes, I ran dialup flawlessly on XP,Linux, & now Vista 64bit Ult.-I did not get kicked unless I was downloading something at the same time I was playing Scorched3D via the Internet.
I now have my Cell phone(Alltel/Verizon) tethered to my PC in a fringe signal area...I still do not get kicked from the game. I took reading from the UK speed test & the one from the U.S.-My results follow-I hope this may help. *Sounds to me like a glitchy isp signal or something in your PC accessing the web(or outside of it=Signal partially Pirated),or something to do with your PC accepting a long term connection with that server #.

Good one Chopper. The Speedtest results were good too. The Altlanta site consistently provides me with the best numbers. Perhaps VIKING should try it for comparrison.
If he still remembers Morse Code, he can tap out data faster than what he just showed us.

Hi Tumbleweed :
Have you been getting kicked much lately? Any?

As usual, I prove I'm scrooed up.. <SNIPPED> Then again, I'm not getting booted regular either..
I just finished playing a few games without problem.
Thanks for joining in. You and Legion are the only ones I can think of on the west coast.
Later,
Rommel
P.S. - To Tnick :
You said you found some sort of malware but I don't recall what it was or if you investigated it thoughly. There is nothing wrong with asking Verizon to provide you with a new IPA. If they do, stay off of the nudie sites for a few days and see how you play.

No, Rom, I'm not getting kicked, from main, however I have not yet figured out how to keep playing Merge after Thrax's server goes down. That seems to be pretty much a "show stopper".
Main seems fine, I think I tested at a bad time, that's when most around here are trying to sift out the "reality" and "fantasy" found in the evening news reports...

Hey Tnick, did you figure your problem out yet? LOL, Chopper & Rommel! My online speed is a direct result of my lack of cell phone signal. Told ya I live in the boonies.. Sometimes my phone shows [EU]/EVDO and sometimes it shows (RTTx1)<-- Slow.... I'm 22 miles from the nearest tower & large hills break line of sight.

Hi Tnick :
If you would post the details (personal identifiers ommitted) for those having this problem in the future, perhaps we can consider this a good ending to a bad problem. Either way, you don't owe me anything. I was simply trying to get some free help in case I have the same problem.
Best wishes and congratulations,
Rommel

lol pastor when it comes to this stuff im a dummy too ok. after trying so many different things and updating every driver i could think off. i went into my network settings went to network status click on it then properties. the box that opened up i clicked on Internet protocol version 4 (tcpipv4 i clicked on that then properties again. then clicked on advanced there is 3 tabs across the top click on the one that says WINS. scroll to bottom of that box and make sure the disable netbios over tcp ip is checked if not check it. and ever since i done that i have not had any problems i can have my firefox broswer open doing scans in the other game i play and still play scorched with no problems. if you need any help pastor let me know we can skype or i can call you i have free long distance to canada and the us. i cant tell you how much getting this fixed has improved my game. and if there is any way i can help i would be more then happy to.
I tried these settings and at first it worked then started the lag and finally the kicking. Since then I started monitoring my internet connection and apparently although I have full connection to my router my internet access comes and goes. I contacted my ISP and basically got the feeling that me being able to use their services was a charity to me and they were going to nothing to improve their services to me.
I contacted our local cable company that is available less than a mile away and requested that they extend their service to my area. I received a form letter from them stating that if they received enough request they would consider expanding their service to my area. After 15 straight days of e-mail request and 15 form letters I finally received this letter.
Mr. Duvall,
When it was stated that after enough request were received we would cosider expanding our services, that did not mean request from the same individual. May we recommend that you speak to your neighbors and have them submit the same request. Thank you for you interest we understand you would like our services and it has been noted no further request are needed from you.
Sincerely yours,
The IT guy from where I work uses the same ISP I do and he complained about their service he then paid 90 dollars to have a 60 foot tall telephone pole installed with a 12 inch receiver on top to "boost" his signal but at most we can expect 2 mbps from them and that is at peak performance. God I love living in the country but it plays hell with my internet service. Does wonders for my peace of mind and love of shooting my guns though
