Hi,

I just wanted to know when the .deb package would come out for the build 42?

I can't play the regular servers without the update, and I'm currently building the source right now, so I'm weary of having it working on the first try.

Also, there are many mistakes in the source build. References to packages are wrong, not to mention that wxwindows is now wxwidgets. Maybe these things should be updated before the next build ?

Also, there are a CRAZY amount of dependencies not listed in the readme.txt file. I started this over 4 hours ago and I'm still trying to figure out if my build will work or not.

just a thought.

You can email me if you have any suggestions about building it easyer.

You'll need to contact the debian maintainers for that, I don't create packages for every platform.

There are no mistakes in the source build, on fedora, windows, mac it compiles as is. http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/wiki/index. ... _Linux_v42
It may require some changes for other platforms but that is the nature of unix. If you want to contibute some changes that work for debian I can include them.

Yes the readme does seem out of date, I'll remove it and point people to the website.

If the configure runs then it should work fine.

Couple of notes about building on Ubuntu you might need to make some changes if you are using the new nvdia drivers 180.11
it will give you a libGL error you need to
cd /usr/lib/
sudo ln -s libGL.so.180.11 libGL.so

I did not have to so this with previous nvidia drivers

Also I had some problems building under gcc 4.3
You might install gcc 4.1 some have had no problems installing with gcc 4.2
For me it builds fine if I run
sh autogen.sh CC=gcc-4.1 CXX=g++-4.1 --disable-openaltest CXXFLAGS=-lalut

make -j2
sudo make install

Just a follow up.

Finally got the make and make install to run without problems. Theres one missing option but it said it wasn't necessary to have to run it. Maybe I could try to export it as a .deb if there are anyone else interested ?

If not, then its ok.

Dunno about easier.. its different Gavin provides a rpm of the install which works on several linux distros. A deb file works on debian based distros. Its really just different from windows. There are a couple of versions of windows there are 100 if not 1000's of different linux distros. So those that use linux are free to use the version/distro they like.
