I think it's time I reinstall VC++ 2008. It may be conflicting with the older versions of the utilities I had on here (which I didn't uninstall until after I installed this one).

Because today after I updated, I'm getting this error:

ok... I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and a lot of the weirdness I encountered went away and the music started working. I even (at first) got it to run a couple of times without crashing but the relections were messed up looking (see image). They looked like ripped polygons.

After a couple of times, it started crashing like it always does and I couldn't get it working again until I deselected the reflections option again.

This kind of inconsistency is maddening and I have no idea how to troubleshoot such oddness.

I realize that there is probably nothing you can do about it considering everyone else's builds seem to work fine but I just wanted to make you aware of it in case you had any ideas on what I could be doing wrong.

Like I said, I'll upload my builds (probably on Friday) so that everyone else can see if they work on their systems.

Can somebody check these executables out for me to see if it's a problem with my VC++ Compiler or if it's just my comp?

REMEMBER TO BACK UP!

It must be your pc. I downloaded and ran all 3 of those; played solo
swars, loaded a public-server and connected, and ran a few of the
admin-panel controls.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened beyond the stripes on the
landscapes. All weapons worked, and all maps loaded.

If Swars doesn't break it....

What the hell.... ... I don't... understand it.

My comp is completely clean. I know it is because I regularly run scans and check hijackthis logs. So it can't be that.

My only other suspicion is XP SP3.... I installed the RTM build the other day and it still does it.

You're running SP2 still right? Or are you on Vista?

I'll try messing with the Nvidia Control Panel settings and seeing if I can find something there.

Xp-home, SP2, Pentium4/2.2ghz, 1g-ram, Ati-radeon 9200 128mb.
All game settings on maximum at 1024x768, and
on-board Realtek AC'97 audio on 16-channels.

All builds have compiled and run clean for me.

DS it's probably just something I've missed with regards to your graphics card. It's just the reflections that cause it to screw up, right? I've a few things I'll add to try and narrow down the issue, don't fret too much.

Sorry Gavin. I don't mean to give you too much grief. I figured you had an 8XXX series GeForce card though.

I'm just bothered when I can't figure out what's wrong on something that keeps crashing.

Yes, that is strange. We are both running 8800GT cards.
Can you try turing NoGLDrawElements on and see if that helps.

Perhaps it is the service pack, you did re-install the display drivers after installing it? I'll try updating a work machine, don't really want to mess with my development machine.

Turning on NoGLDrawElements seems to fix the crashing...

I tested it on the build on my laptop which I believe is around revision 57.

I will try to completely uninstall and reinstall my drivers and see if that helps. Although I'm sure I've installed newer drivers since I've installed SP3 but it may help to uninstall first.

Here's a clearer screenshot of what the corruption looks like in the reflections:

I installed VC++ and the source to my laptop and built it (first time building revision 62).

I also uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers.

I played it and it works, without needing to turn on NoGLDrawElements and without needing to turn off water reflections.

Did you do something with this revision to help try to correct the issue because I'm not sure which of the things I did above actually fixed it.

I guess I will try updating to the latest revision at home to see if it was the revision.

Good news, let me know how you get on. Don't think I did anything to fix it.

Is this intentional? There are hundreds of bats on this level... In the middle of daylight.
