I managed to get scorched3d running after following the directions in the sticky thread. Specifically, to fix library errors, i copied all the frameworks from the .app directory to my /Libraries/Frameworks directory.

So now it loads, but I get a lot of errors. Specifically, it tells me it can't find the bmp files.

It displays an error message when loading the initial startup dialog box that says "no bitmap handler for type 1 defined"

The details option displays a series of "can't load image from file ......." messages.

I checked the path that it was attempting to load from and it is valid.

If i attempt to actually start a game (top option) nothing happens and some debug info is printed to the command line.

[Debug] 23:27:07: no task_for_pid()
[Debug] 23:27:07: Wow.. this actually worked!
[Debug] 23:27:07: Mach port was invalidated, but process hasn't terminated!

I have run the game through xterm as follows and also from my desktop, and it does not seem to make a difference...

bmac:/usr/local/games/scorched3d/Scorched3D.app/Contents/MacOS $ ./Scorched3D

Any idea what's broken?

I am running this on a new macbook with a 2.0 ghz intel cpu, 1 gig of ram. osx 10.4

So, i restarted, and now it works.


I think my os x install is just fubared.

Do you have a MacBook or a MacBook Pro? FYI the MacBook doesn't have a 'real' GPU and it doesn't have any dedicated video RAM. The PC folks have run into similiar issues on PC's without a 'real' GPU also.
