Mate of mine (Richie) was d/c'd the other day when DeathBal joined and could not reconnect with an error saying, error in png 32x32 something something.

Tried to get him to leave for a minute to make sure it WAS his AV that caused the problem, but to no effect.
He was using Mandriva 2008 and the RPM install, while I was using Win Vista, the only other linux user I could see was using Suse (If I remember)

last night, the same thing happened when Paris joined, but I had switched to Mandriva 2008 aswell, but with a compiled (with great difficulty) source code.
My game completely froze, while Richies kicked him again and would not let him join.
We both then switched to the main server (was full to start with, hence newb server) without an issue for the rest of the night, but did not see either DB or Paris.

Both of these guys are fantastic players that have been around for a while, so I do not think its 'their' Av's, but more how the game is dealing with it.

Hopefully I will get the error message soon to be able to post it here (and be able to get one to leave to ensure my suspision is correct) or to get richie to write it down and post.

Thought I'd bring it to your attention as it is obviously not the rpm (which needs a lil work) but more to do with the linux install.

If you need anymore info please ask as I will happily help, the error message will hopefully follow shortly.

Other than a few little issues, still a fanTASTIC game and all credit to the programmer/s

You could download the cvs version and build it. I am assuming that x session == *nix.

Oh, sorry. I either didn't realize you wanted me to exit, or didn't see you actually ask me to. I'm not always at the pc and i don't usually say brb.

I vaguely remember the conversation. I'll use another AV and see if it has any effect.

I'd strongly suggest to stick with v41 instead of CVS. It would be best if one of the devs posted a patch against v41 with this change.

Hi,

what are the chances of fixing the wxwidgets 2.8.x compatibility issue as well and putting it in an rpm?

Putting in into an RPM? You mean source RPM?

The current binary RPM is built against 2.8.

Im pretty sure I having installed the latest CVS, but I am still being kicked from server (or cannot connect) when certain people join with an AV that my Mandriva 08 doesnt like, its not ALL avatars, just some.

Is it because they're using gif instead of png now or what, but its so annoying cos im addicted to this game now!

No, only PNG is usable for v41 avatars.
You don't have the latest cvs, or you wouldn't be able to play anywhere;
he changed the protocal 1 step due to changes..
Gavin means he corrected it , submitted it to the CVS for compiling,
and it will be remidied in the next Patch he releases shortly..
Untill then we can only hope that the players making Custom avatars,
can look again at the standards, and format them propperly.

Well, its all fine now with 41.1.

As for png av's, I wondered if it was because they were SOMEHOW getting gifs in that the problem occured.
no matter now tho, all resolved with patch.

Cheers guys!
