I had scorched 3d 36 on my comp, uninstalled and installed 39. when i try starting a game in s3d 39, i get an error saying

Error: Failed to execute scorched3d using commandline:-
C:\Program Files\Scorched3D\scorched.exe -startclient "./data/singleeasy.xml"

and then

Execusion of command 'C:\Program Files\Scorched3D\scorched.exe -startclient "./data/singleeasy.xml" failed (error 193: )

hmmm, make sure that the singleeasy.xml file is present in the data directory, if not, install again. If it is, then its corrupt i suppose, or it did not get updated to the current version, i could zip one up for you and send it to you, and attach here, but I dont have the file on this computer.

(I'm no expert though, thats for sure) Good luck.

I'd suggest a complete uninstall/reinstall of Scorched. If that doesn't work, try playing a 'custom' singleplayer game and see if you get a similar result.

actually I think what has happened here is the newer xmls where
not replaced and are not compatible with v39

so its simple to fix.

in your documents & settings/username/.scorched folder you need
to delete all of the data files there *not the folders* just all of the
xml's except for your ids.xml leave that alone.

then re-click scorched3d.exe and it should re-create the proper files.

let us know if this worked.

This fix doesn't work. I have the same error and it does nothing to make the game work. The complete error messages are attached. This is on a clean install of the latest version.

when you uninstall it, make sure there's no files still left in the scorched folder. And when you try to uninstall it, make sure you remove the documents and settings folder at the same time...

Remember to back up your ids.xml file!

Try installing into a directory that has no space in the name.

e.g. c:\scorched3d (not in the program files).
