Moved from the Scorched Wars Mod thread to here, where I think the conversation at hand is more appropriate

Cbx pretty much said it all. This isn't Gavin's problem at all. And I don't really care that you are using the copyrighted material in your mod, you can do whatever you want. Like cbx said, my main concern is with having copyrighted material hosted on sf.net, which they strictly prohibit. And, again, I would hate to see the project shut down over the issue.
At this point, since you guys are obviously quite fond of the copyrighted material, and you have never been able to fully use the service for its intended purpose anyway, I think our best course of action would be to do a support request and have the mod removed from sourceforge.net. That way, we're all happy I think. The mods project will be safe, and you guys can use copyright materials to your heart's content until (unlikely) Lucas Films says something about it.

Well, I didn't MAKE you, I just suggested it. But its not the first time I've come to regret something I said.
It seems to me that Bob has it right there: Remove it from scorched3d-mods and everyone is happy. As mentioned, the idea of using the s3d-mods project for cvs usage didn't work out anyway, as the development wasn't able to be shared as cleanly as is meant to be.
Thrax, at your request, either Bob or myself will put in a support request to have the cvs removed.
Thanks, and as I said (or at least eluded to ), I don't have issues with your mod, just with the fact that it may have been putting the rest of the "project" at risk. You guys have been doing some great work, keep it up.

To be honest, I don't fully understand that page, but it sounds like it provides the answers you need. - Deathstryker

I just want to make it clear that I feel the same way about this. I think the mod is awesome. The maps are just astounding. It is truly some of the greatest work ever done on a Scorched mod I think. Really, I want to be clear about that. The mod itself is spectacular and a thing to behold.
My only complaint is the fact that it contains numerous copyrighted materials that you do not have the rights to redistribute, hosted on sf.net in clear violation of their rules. The fact that it jeopardizes the project which several of us are relying on for CVS service and file hosting is the only reason I have spoke out about this. I am simply trying to look out for the best interests of the rest of the modding community here.

The only thing we can do, for now, to keep the project safe is have the folder for Scorched Wars removed. (a good looking over the SF site would be a good idea for projects like this one, using stuff from a widely known copy right)
I do agree that Shock and Tharx have come up with one of the most creative and best looking mods ever. I would love for the project to beable to continue to host it but for now we cannot take the chance of it being shut down or some of us losing our member ship we have

Well Raptormod was under development for quite a while. Since the original author had slowed down with development, I had taken over and added some suouped -up weapons and unbalanced the mod, then the original author came back. he said it was unbalanced badly, so I removed all of my changes. That was when development stopped. I also handed off the mod to Spudster shortly after that. There was nothing more i could do with Raptormod.
the true mark of a skilled player is the ability to adapt. If a player cannot adapt, then maybe that player wasn't all that skilled to begin with...

Who had the merge mod folder deleted out of the CVS?
Yes, I removed merge and lasermod.
Both are openly accessable from the ftp, or direct from servers.
As both were only half-mods made from existing content, and that
content was at the time being contested.. they were pulled till thing's
were sorted out.
