it's a good way to get your email address blacklisted. we'd definitely need an opt out check box or something.
wait until the new release is properly polished? if the game's good enough, a couple of reviews in the big gaming magazines or websites could change everything - long as they were favourable. we probably shouldnt be too pushy about that stuff. people like scoops. i dont think it's a good idea to spam up too many big websites with half-assed needy requests for coverage (for example).

Certainly spamming is something you dont want to do if you want cooperation from people, its done to play the suckers. Getting an (un)wanted message once every 6 months from a known source with a simple link to opt out is a decent form of newsletter.
What constitutes as spam is not all that clear, informing people by newsletter that once had an interest is not widely considered spam, unless you start to send "newsletters" to sell stuff. Like toms hardware does these days-marked as spam, fixed. Websites mentioning us wouldnt see it as spam when we let them know when there is a new version, worst case they dont care and they ignore it.
New sources obviously should be handled in a more thought trough manner, we can use the enthusiasm of players to recommend us to new websites. I know one of my favorite video blogs probably would mention us if we get our stuff together. Its an game show with independent developers, like the silly little flash games that are so hugely popular these days. Its called Bytejacker its also on Revision3 and there are other gameshows that do indy games too.
Which is another way to get game exposure, make a flash game called scorched3d. It wouldn`t be 3d obviously but some 2+2d could give it some play-value. And of course there will be a strong suggestion to play the real S3D with a link to download it quick and easy. The potential exposure there is massive, again flash games are hugely popular these days.
But there are some other things that have to be in order for such things to work, Behave like a consistent group working together for a common goal and such.

Most maintainers for linux distros seem to subscribe to either freshmeat or sourceforge so they get automatic notifications of any new releases. Some put out a new distro release before I even anounce on these forums.

Man..finaly I get the chance to play again and I, like tnick, getting kicked all the time. Same TCP3 thing. I barley have the oppotunity to shoot a sinegle shot! I reduce the grafic setting and the details size...nothing helps! The computer I have now: Pentium Quad core. Windows 7 ultimate 2 GB Ram. 1 TB disc space. Geforce 9500GT Monitor: Samsun P2270 Full HD. I have a piber optic connection to the net.
When I used to play in the past I never had such a big problem with gettin' kicked. Also I played in much better setting and slower net and slower computer+grafic card.

Bandwidth's pretty much irrelevant, it's ping that's the critical part for gaming.
