I am new to all this...first off. I have downloaded the new Scorched3D version here on this website. I am running Windows XP. It seems to download just fine. But when I try to play the game it immediately takes the game window down and brings up an "Accessory" message:

In the first box it says "Failed to find animation named 'EplosionRingRenderer' in accessory 'WeaponDeathAnimation'"

Then the next box pops up, titled "XMLNode" and it says:

"Parse error, File:C:/.../accessories.xml Line:1481 Col:3 Node:supweapon1 Error:Failed to find subweapon, not a weapon"

Then another box titled "Accessory" says:

"Failed to create action 'WeaponDeathAnimation'"

Then the game stays running, but remains unplayable....

What is wrong and why is this happening and what can I do to get it working?

hmmm seems your weapon death animation is missing a portion of code, or it may be a simple spelling mistake.

Try re downloading it, i assume you dont have any mods to save for it, since you cant even play it yet? If you do have mods and have played online you may want to save those in a safe place, youll find the ids.xml in your .scorched3d folder (do a windows search for it) Just save her to the desktop if you want to save yor online ranks, (do you have the new version of the mods?)

Again thats only necessary if youve played online, or have mods you wish to keep.

Otherwise if you redownload fresh and get back to us , well be able to help you out if that didnt work.

What it's meaning, is that you forgot to clean out your old mods folder first.
It's trying to read the mods you have, and finding an error in thier code.
Changes were made in the engine of this version that require downloading
fresh copies of mods in order for them to work. If it's involving the default
mod, then still clean out the user-mods folder located in your directory :

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\.scorched3d\mods

Nothing in the game is really Broken, it simply is reading the wrong information.

I actually did redownload and reinstall it about 4 or 5 times already and, still nothing is different. It still brings up the same messages. I don't think I have any mods, like you were mentioning. I guess I don't really know what a mod is...sorry. But to answer what you were talking about, yes, I have redownloaded it and reinstalled it fresh, with not success.

So I cleaned out the mod folders and it works now.....now the it seems that the game is extremely slow and/or my computer is slow... Anyway, thank you

Ah good to hear, just tweak the game settings to get better speed.

After having a few of us mod-authors almost loose our work a few times.. we
decided that having the installer totally flush mod-folders was a dangerous
thing it's normally supposed to move old mods out of the way instead.

This installer apparently diddn't do that either, but at least you have it solved.



Ouch.. that's almost like stabbing me in the chest with a rusty spade!

Mods are the customized weapon and map sets that many of us build to
add some variety to the game. After mastering the basics, you may find
yourself exploring other avenues. Hope to see you online someday.

Thrax helped develop most of the more in depth mods around, hes the king of the mods. You should stop by in merge sometime, well blow yah away!
