I was doing some testing of BETA 3 the sync issue seems to be gone yay!!!

But the game performance is not looking good for me personally. I cant get more than 6-9 fps with every-thing turned down low and water turned off. With every-thing turned up I am getting 2-7 fps. [I am running Linux] Don't have a windows machine to test with.

With version 40.1 I get between 17 and 19 fps with every-thing turned up.

Both versions running at 800x600 windowed.

Screen shots of settings am I missing something?

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+

Not sure Irish, I am going to profile the old vs the new version at somepoint. I've not done any performance related changes yet. But with everything turned off I would think it should be around the same.

I've put some official BETA3 packages onto the download site and updated the tournament server to be running BETA3.

something buggy...

i've been running some servers of this latest, and it keeps closing on
me at the load of some maps. no warnings, and no error-popups.

since the log doesn't stay alive long enough to tell me which maps, i'm
now running a local bot test with all maps in series.

i'll update/edit when i get more clues.

Additional: Yup.. definately something in the landscapes.
It's related to the size of the bmp/jpg used.
128x, 192x, and 256x load propperly.
But when it reaches a map using a jpg file of 512x512 for it's
hightmap, the server simply vanishes..

No, it closes too swiftly and the logs just end with

Wed Sep 05 08:25:18 2007 - [info] : "Game starting in 5 seconds..."
Wed Sep 05 08:25:23 2007 - [info] : "Next Round"
Wed Sep 05 08:25:23 2007 - Generating landscape
-----------------------------------------------------------------

there is no further info. I have many sizes of bmp/jpg's used,
and only the 512's make it vanish without a trace.

Beta-3 server of Merge is open 24/7(barring my crappy connection).
I have it up stable now with the offending maps removed from the active cycle.

advguild.myftp.org:27032 aprox 6.5mb download.

Of the 49 maps available, 10 use 512x512 jpg's.

the simplest 3 to compare would be the x1, x2, and x3 maps which are
256x, 192x, and 512x respectively with little else different between them.

referring to the above error..
Suppose it's not gonna help to host it till i can get it fixed and on a matching protocal..

Also came across a program-assert error.
Something about (ip < 15 && fp < 15) in file Fixed.cpp.
Wondered what it was related to, and if it was something
changed that i diddn't keep up with.

edited: file removed.
obsolete already due to protocal, i'll send it to you a little later..

It means it is trying to parse a float value from a string that is >15 characters in length. I put a log message in so we can see the offending string and track it down.

Ah cheers, wondered where it had gone (at home now). I'll try and look at it tomorrow.

Last couple of things to look at are two crashes in the client, 1 is the one mentioned above with the large map sizes, the other I am getting periodicaly when running the game.

Irish - try unchecking a bunch of the things in "compatibility settings".

I haven't had opportunity to update and test lately, so I cannot offer my own experiences, sorry.
