Minor Bugs:

The pink aiming triangle seems to disappear when you're too far out. (I'm sure it never used to). May not be a problem for some. Personally I rely on it a lot and am having to alter my game to compensate.

Camera movement restriction button doesn't seem to work (apparently it works for some, but not for others).

This isn't a bug, but:

Missiles seem to travel more slowly than they did before. I know some people like it, but to me it seems unrealistic as if there's low gravity.

Feature Requests:

Seems there are several people on laptops struggling with their fps. I'd guess you have minimum standards for how good the game should look, Gavin, but for the old school players who just want to play...

A draw distance and roamlevelramp slide bar in game options?

Or maybe some other way to further reduce detail? Any way roam could be augmented with an ultra low polygon, basics only height map whatever something? (just a thought)

Seems like I remember someone reporting the first one before.

yes, it was one of Gavins earlier features. The fading at distance of all
tanks and lables. I noted that it was too narrow, and he expanded it's
field to work over a 512x map easily. but in short..
It's Intended, and not a bug.

same with the second and third.
The free-cam is still there, if players verify that thier key-mapping is accurate.

And the Shots 'Do' fly slightly slower. It's the effect of Gavins new
physics engine, and does take a few moments longer to travel than
it used to.. Also a Feature, not a bug.

Experements were tried with the the speed at which the physics
engine will calculate steps(PhysicsFPS) in servers, but the results
weren't dramatic. The delay is only noticable to those that are in
a hurry. For those trying to enjoy the pretty effects, they don't mind
the smoother action instead.

telling me to check my key mapping is like telling me to check internet explorer when your website doesn't work.

if it doesn't work in xp 32 with a uk keyboard layout, there's a problem with the game.
(it is still supposed to be right-alt?)

*edit: thanks though, that did work. now mapped to 'r' in scorched settings.

surely the missile travel speed isn't limited by server cpu time. that doesn't sound right. i haven't really noticed a delay, it's more that missiles travel slowly through the air.

i'm sure i'll get used to it.

it was me at this post . Gavin promised to put it back (make it permanent as i understand).

Along with problems with aimings it may introduce another problem.

1.Exact moment of disapearing of the aiming Sight can be used for cheating. it is clear indication of the constant distances on your monitor. guess what?

2.to make it always visible i increased my DrawDistance/DrawDistanceFade a lot, but then the game speed suffer.

The speed is related to all the calculations performed for the shadows and reflections. So turning shaders off will make a large difference.

I have also made some improvements that I plan on releasing soon that mean with shaders off the performance is the same as it was with v40.1
