It means you've reached your power limit for whatever visual settings you chose. Reset them to the minimum, and test again little by little. Depending on the card, or on-board vid processor, Some visual effects may not be supported. Do you mean the laptops power settings? or Scorch settings?
I sell a few modern mid-level laptops at my work by HP, Acer, and Toshiba. I loaded and tested V42 on all of them, and found that even with dual-core and 3-4gb ram, they will only run at 2-10fps on some and 15-20fps on others.. No kidding , ive been fighting this "new laptop since I got it.
The limitation is partly Video-processor, and partly OS..
While strangely enough, mid-level settings on my old pentium4 with 512mb ram and 64mb ATi card still gives me 25-35 FPS average. Which doesn't say much for the state of some modern laptops...I miss my old Toshiba
What really po's me is HP has the driver from graphics from august dated as November or so on their update site, yet intel is like 3 or 4 ahead on theirs.
Comp won't let me install because it says its "customized"...
What if i uninstall the one i have can I install intels latest?
I'm dying without my scorch....
Three old guys are out walking. First one says, 'Windy, isn't it?' Second one says, 'No, it's Thursday!' Third one says, 'So am I. Let's go get a beer.'

you should always uninstall old graphics drivers completely before installing new ones.
dont expect to be able to play 3d games on a laptop with no dedicated video. you may just get 20fps in minimum resolution on a modern laptop with an intel igp or similar, in minimum resolution with minimum settings. if you manage that, youre doing well.
anyway, the reason im posting is just to say... dont assume that "max settings" will necessarily be slower. sometimes it's the reverse.
I'd like to thank everyone for their continued support of the beta, rest assured I am reading all of the posts (in all the forums) and I will take action where appropriate.

What version of SDL_NET is required for this rpm Mr Camp?
I have Libsdl_net-devel and libsdl_net1.2_0 both version 1.2.7 on mandriva 2010.0 i686 and the rpm is unable to install due to unsatisfied SDL_NET (installed to /usr/lib/).
/me head desks!

everything's looking very nice.
one minor thing ive spotted, you have a typo in landdetailerror. (i guess it should be landdetail, not landdetial).
it's great to see a land error slider on the settings page.
it could be nice to have a best button as well as normal, faster, fastest? say you had normal default to 2x AA and 1024x768 res, and perhaps best as maximum/native resolution with 4x AA and land error set to minimum.
sorry to put this in news - it should probably be in feature requests
i still have some issues with slightly broken shadows. i dont know if that's my hardware or not
