Oki. so far, it’s exceeding expectations in a ton of areas. =D>

bots are smarter and learning, maps are unique and coming along well.

    just a few thots then.

increase the size of the pirate ship grape-shot a hiar,i only see the shadows falling.

shrink the meteorite rock by maybe 20percent, and bury it a bit more. looks perfectly
shaped, but from the size of it, it would have made half the planet evaporate ๐Ÿ˜€

try that fog we touched on, i think it does help on fading land edges, and adds feeling.

I’ll pm you that market file to try, but keep the original in reserve if you like.
It should help get prices sliding as players start visiting.
If you keep the server open while you’re away or asleep, we can get a better taste. It
really doesn’t take that much power or bandwidth. I’ll be back as i can to sample more of
the arsonel if i get free time.

Can you add custom avatars for mods? I would like to make some presets for my players to use.

    Armor

Actually, yes you can. We’d played with that a few years ago.
Include the /avatars folder in the mod, and it’s list should be available to the user.

This was last done before gavin moved the default into the globalmods section, but it
should still apply. Whether it adds-to, or over-rides the base set, i don’t remember.

I have filed a bug report here, but I could use some help from others with tracking the times of it.

I’m sure many of you will have experienced this, unless it’s a time specific thing, in which case those that don’t play at that time won’t ๐Ÿ˜€

If you have a shot and the projectile freezes mid air, then suddenly appears further along its flight path and the game continues as normal afterwards, plus report the time of the event here (including your time zone and if you’re feeling very helpful, the UTC aswell to make it easier on us), so we can see if it is happening at a specific time of the day and therefore being caused by a server process.

    Thanks.

For initial reference, the one today occurred @ 05:00:06 GMT/UTC

This is not a bug per-se, but the result of a feature.

So that all server/client links could be propperly timed and sync’d, they had to be
made to keep all action in the propper place. When a client is lagging, or the
server-link is delayed, it can’t keep up as smoothly, and Skips a few frames in
one flicker.. making the projectiles display at thier new propperly timed location.

Folks with slower pc’s see this all the time. The fact that you see it now is just
because you’ve always had a pc smooth enough, except for a few rare moments.

Short-version – Frame Skipping to sync action during lag. Not bug.

There’s probably a lot of other little things i’ve seen while i play.. I remind myself to
note it down, then promptly forget it all 10 minutes after i close the game.

Programming for every tiny hiccup requires a crap-load of redundancy and re-checking
before and after.. Which slows things down and make’s it bigger. Hard to write
both efficiency and redundancy at the same time. ๐Ÿ˜€

For one poor overworked irishman tapping away in his basement during his free-time, this
is a damn good effort. If only we could invite more to try it.
    -Speaking of which..
Gavin. Think we’d gain a few players if you sent out a Forum Mass-Mail to
invite everyone back for another try? And after you can flush your inbox of all
the invalid address the spam-bots have used over the years ๐Ÿ˜€

That’s it you wonderful person, just the info I needed. Fixed.

OMG, a use for Thrax has been found.
Taken years and years for it to happen, but there we go.
Yes, I am a sarcastic bastage

    hehehehe ๐Ÿ˜€

What’s even funnier, is that it’s been happening ever since multi-lives were possible
from prizes, but it’s always slipped my mind to mention it. We just usually used the
    work-around for the moment.

So.. About that Deforming napalm ability ๐Ÿ˜€

Its quite random, sometimes the round just hangs after other players have been wiped out.
I have noticed this locally only very rarely. The only way to complete the round is by resign.

    Dunno if that helps any.

It also tries to grant a round end prematurely.. If players have multiple lives left, but

It doesn’t wait for the respawn, it declares the end.

hey, it would be apic if there was some weapon that make you
pilot one of the small planes/helicopters with arrow keys and shoot from them

It would also be a completely different game, not just mod, but a different game entirely.
I’d be amazed if the scorched engine would actually do it.

Silly goose’s.. asking us to hand over our precious planes to players? We arm them
and have the Environment attack you as it wish’s. Bwa-haha!

However, Boid Planes attacking at a players request could be added in a snap. You
wouldn’t be able to direct thier flight, but you could signal them to drop a barrage
or strafe the nearest target easily enough.

AW, you should know what i mean for this. Just replicate the random attacks you
have, and make a buyable version with better accuracy. It’s similar to our air-strikes,
but the planes are already flying.

Not exactly “save”. A checkmark would be closer to save.

Sigh.. you may be right. As out-dated as the floppy is for that function.. Type ‘SAVE’ into
Google images, and what’s the first thing that pops up?? A frikkin floppy-disk..

Naw.. it’s just a name in a game. It’s harmless. The channels they have to

Now that is dedication to spam!..

They actually downloaded, installed, and propperly configured the game..
Just to have thier name appear on that game’s own web-site for
    less than 5 minutes.

Kudo’s for the work… now go tell all your friends how you made your name
show up, so they can all play too. ๐Ÿ˜€

Don’t know bout the rest of the globe, i was just going by what i’ve
polled my customers at work for the last 3 years.

While i can’t count exact numbers, i can say that of the people i’ve asked:
-about 40% don’t even have or use computers
-of the 60% left, over half don’t use thier computer for more than email
-of the 30% left, only 25% used the high-speed version of whatever package.

that means of the approx 15000~ people i’ve talked to, only a little over 7.5% had
the ability to download at near 1mbps. The rest either diddn’t know, diddn’t care,
or were using less than 256kbps; the common rate of first stage DSL provided locally.

I’ve also chatted with other associates from the US and Down-Under who
deal with pc repair services, and while the savy few of thier customers use
high-speed, the majority are on the cheapest package thier ISP privides, or
even still on Dialup in most States. Ask Viking.. ๐Ÿ˜€

Well I saw a few people connect and they never played, so I assume that at some point they just gave up ๐Ÿ™

Yes, Sadly.. While the content and effects of the mod are novel and well
made, the large size make’s it unfeasable for exploring players to just pop
    in for a look.

You are all trying to think of ways to speed up the upload to players so that
you can make mods larger, but you fail to realize that you may not be the
    slow end of the link.

Many folks on the web don’t use high-speed connections. The majority of
families don’t always consider internet a priority and don’t spring for the
top-line packages. As a result, Even at thier maximum.. 138MB can take
them over an hour to pull down.

Streamline it, trim out fat models, whatever it takes to promote efficiency over glitter.
The mod is great, but it’s Big.. Anything over 100MB is probably too much.
As it is, you’d get more players if you passed out CD’s of it, than you’ll get
to download it. ( Shameless AOL Slam! )
