Personally, I’d prefer that it would still retain its turn-based aspects, compared to an general mêlée, but I have to admit that I like being able to fire a second shot without having to wait for rollers and such to complete their work. It adds another layer, tactically.
For weapons, I think a slightly different model for packaging them would be best. If ‘baby’ weapons were packaged such that they would fit your needs per-round, and the main distinction between those and their more powerful versions being the number you were allowed, it would shift the focus from buying the weapon to buying the bullets. Larger ‘set piece’ weapons like Funkies would be limited to only one or two per-player, thus increasing their perceived value and limiting their overuse at the same time.
The above could also apply to shields, in that players would have to chose between powerful shields which they could only have a few of, or weaker shields which they can replenish throughout the match, but may be defeated by a heavy-hitting weapon. You could also handle the issue of increased health or extra lives at the shield level, if shield prices are adjusted such that the usage of them is assumed. The same could go for parachutes in merge.
Is anyone else having issues getting past the ‘authenticating’ bit when joining the beta server?
For the MCB issue, couldn’t we simply ask that people use the MCB sever for MCB matches? Its there, the download is tiny, and everyone would be happy, wouldn’t they? I’m pretty sure we could set it up for a last round FFA, simply by tweaking some of the arms levels a bit.
Sure, a MCB match would take place on mains every now and then, but it wouldn’t hurt anything, would it? New players would see that MCB is set aside for a specific sever, and old players would be able to still play in the manner they’d like.
From an exterior perspective, it looks like everyone has been sitting in the same room, with the same people, dealing with the same problems, for a touch too long. Most of the questions – Should there be bots on main? Should the Dev forum be visible? Should the prices be changed? and so forth – could be answered with a few polls and a test group or two.
With all that in mind, how can I help?
Just for clarification – it has been a few years for me – what are the specific changes that people wish to have done to the game? Preferably without telling me why.
The bot doesn’t seem to like to shoot much on turnfree. It shot maybe once or twice in an entire match, and never used a shield. At one point it did use fuel though (which, strangely enough, cause the camera to track it instead of me).
Another strange anomaly I’ve noticed, is that when I quit a match, I seem to ‘linger’ on the server, with my name showing up on the player list well after I’m gone.
If the merge server is any indication, Scorch Wars will be bloody amazing running on the beta version. Although I’d settle for more people to shoot at, at the moment.
The main addition that I think would be most useful, would be to have the shot camera actually track the last round you fired, so you could keep an eye on it while planning your next move. As things stand at the moment, it is pretty easy to lose track of your shot.
Am I the only one imagining opscorched with these new server settings?
What mods, version, patch version, operating system, mod load order, bashed patch, in game settings?
Looks like we have another oblivious among us, want the list?
The world is abound with joy on your very own occasion.
That saved me a post.
Bump? I didn’t bump anything, I was asked a question, so I answered it.
Ahh, but what is your definition of nothing? Just as half -8 is more, should it not be the same with nothing?
So we don’t even get a sample? You may be out before you are in.
Vitos better not be Bruin, then again, if he is Bruin…
Half of nothing is more than nothing, no? We figured we might as well try a post here, who knows? We might just find something. No prior voice over experience is required, it would be preferred if background noise is minimal though.
We would find that highly agreeable. We are also willing to work with more than one person.
