I don’t know whether this is it, but Trend Micro’s HouseCall fixed the problem.
It’s basically a free online malware, greyware, and spyware scanner and cleaner, it detected and removed the following viruses from my pc
PE_Parite-A and PE_Parite_A-O
I really don’t know whether this is a coincidence or the pe_parite had a negative influence on Scorched.
By the way, the files infected are all other .EXEs that I had trouble using, sometimes they would just do the same thing this game did at random times.
So in short the problem has been fixed, but i don’t know for how long. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀November 11, 2007 at 3:48 pm in reply to: Fs:Nokia E90,Nokia N95,Sony Ericsson P1,Sony Ericsson W960i #46739
Bulgarian, eh, cool, i was born in BG too, but now, looking at my location, i am light years away.
Anyways, I don’t think technology has gone that far yet.
Althouhg it’d be really nice to be able to play Scorched on a cell phone. I don’t know, maybe scorched v100.1 would do that.
Yeah, ‘funny’ is not exactly what i use to judge clips. I would judge them by how ridiculous, violent and revolting they are, usually, to me, the more ridiculous they are, the more they make me laugh/maniacally cackle. Also foamy is a bit annoying at times.
I’ve seen him before.
(This is all my opinion. No criticism on this reply.)
Ehh, like ’em. But I’ve gotta admit that I like Lenore better.
Thanks, i fixed the problem, all I had to do was let the .exe file through the data execution prevention feature and reboot, so, basically- pointless post… for now.
Nope, i’m running version 40.1 with the normal settings, and it’s running better than most games I have. I tried running v41 with the failsafe sattings- no effect.
I do have autoupdate on, and my ‘updated drivers’ are automatically installed either by the system, or if i go and click ‘update driver software’ in the device manager.
And if there is no actual fix, then i’ll just have to stay with 40.1 until either the problem is fixed, or version 42 comes out.
PS. I don`t think its the NVIDIA GC that`s the problem, `cause if it was, then the game would not have ran in the first place. Primarily, I think it`s a file change/corruption problem.
PS, i noticed that windows does not have some dll files that xp did, i found one only, forgot what it was.
Plus Vista is new OS, so there`s not much drivers that would work 100% efficiency, due to not being fully supported by the OS. I think that i really do need Professional help. I’ll try and find Gavin- see if he knows what the hell does the game want me to do!
Nope, I think it’s Microsoft that windows searched.
Umm, nvidia don’t have the drivers, they sent me to HP though, i’ll try their web.
And that “Works for aday or 2 thing” I forgot to mention that reinstall works only if reinstall it in a different location/even drive.
So this might lead me to:
Something windows does to remember the location of the exe file, and apparently, kinda treating it like dirt.
Or a virus that must have infected the file.
Or an apparent corruption caused due to windows or another program altering the file in its own ways. ‘Cause this is technically a segmentation fault that’s causing it.
By the way, I don’t think that Nvidia GeForce is a good friend to 3D graphics games. But I have only one game that seems to feud with the card:
Drakan: Order of The Flame.
Shows up same error message on difficulty selection, and I Can’t even play it on windowed mode. It works fine on fullscreen, though. Except for that difficulty thing.
OK, I updated the drivers after the game started crashing. I would have to say that the drivers are either from MS or NVIDIA, because all I did to update them was I clicked the update driver software in the device manager, it looked online, but i have no idea where! And if by drive you mean The hard disk, no it’s not full. in fact approx 40gb left. and approx 600/900 mb of memory are available.
My card is NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
So, to summarize
I ran the game it worked, when i tried to run it a day later, it got to my turn to buy/fire, immidiately music and game stopped, and an error report message showed up.
I tried to fix it myself, by updating everything in the device manager that was not updated.
I Saw that didn’t work and now I’m left with 40.1, which is starting to improve in performance, although it already was working well enough to play.
Yeah, as I said, the older version 40.1 works even better than it did on my XP desktop pc. I’m thinking you used that one on your vista. On XP it used to crash the PC, if i tried to run it right after install, but later on it runs perfectly. No problem on Vista though.
Even if it is Vista that 41.1 has problems with, i don’t think it is just the OS.
So until weI solve the problem, i think i’ll settle with good ol’ 40.1.
A list of everything I tried.
Setting the game to all comptability modes(xp-win95)
Turning off all graphics features in the game settings.
Turning off sound
Uninstallreinstall(keeping userfiles) Seems to have worked, but temporarily.
Deleting all files windows created for the game (Prefetch, etc)
Deleting all registry values windows created for the game.
I can conclude now, that it is something with the new version, because version 40.1d (ck) does not do that…yet.
PS- Have similar trouble with office 2007; think there is a connection?
Nah, didn’t work, but since i have the 40.1d (ck) installer i decided to downgrade to that version. although it is a little to soon to conclude that it isn’t the pc, i don’t expect problems from this version. But i do need a fix for 41.1.
