Using the grid is fair game, IMO, as it is included in the game. HOWEVER, due to popular demand, it will not be available on the official servers in the next version.

Should not the phrasing popular demand be changed to overwelming whine?

Why do we need to combat the influence of the grid using players? we all using a external tool (called the brain and eyes) anyway. Removing the grid does not alter the facts the zoom function is fixed as is the font size which are both methods reference in playing. Should go further and remove the chat funtions. Or damage caused by missed shots, hey they give you a “grid” to correct your aim.

Grids are and should remain a part of the game, and since clients are not checked for mods they can remain part of it with those players that are skilled enough adding some code line (copy/past from an old version).

Let’s give this up and move on to more important( or amusing ) topics. The To Do list is big enough for the next version. I am looking forward to cloaking devices and variable strength tanks (or are those unfair also?)

Sorry for the sign up on the first link here are two others

    http://www.gamespot.com/news/6163059.html

man what a concept they have already banned Gears of War, several wrestling games (like Smackdown) and Dead Rising.

a rather good software publisher that gave us Farcry has already said it is leaving germany

    http://www.gamespot.com/news/6162532.html

at this point I hope that the law will be debated and beaten to death, or at least will not pass in all the German states. Man it is hard to believe so many people would support this law.

pardon me now I need to go out fire off a few deathsheads at my coworkers and buy a heavy laser my drive to work.

In my post concerning small missiles acting like homing missiles that was an example of a PAST cheat. The coding that enabled it has been altered three of four version ago.

Come on here people, reality check has bounced

An improved interface is not a cheat, it is an aid like counting squares, calculators, rulers, and using a warp grid (either version). And for tracing or tracking your shots how is that different from watching your shots or asking someone on your chat program “where did my shot go?”

Cheating would be moving the cursor over the target and have the program tell you what you need to hit it one hundred percent of the time. Or a hack to give yourself money and/or health. Altering the source code to have small missiles behave like homing missiles, or assigning the bots to shoot at a specific target. All of these cheats have been used in other versions, and can be written in this or future versions but what is the point?

Is any ranking you get here going to get you money, employment or even a romantic interlude.

One of the grand benifits of open sourse is people can improve on the exiting code. More then a few years back calling up your shot history was being refered to as cheating. When people truce or help each other with shots on chat is that a cheat, or is only using teamspeak a cheat? but graphic interfaces and improvement of the shot history are not.

Well after running side by side comparision I have gone back to IE,
the new version (7.0) firefox still beats out 6.0
    Reasons

Lower system requirements and usage for IE
    Higher speed, lower CPU usage

    Here is for Firefox/Mozillia

    Minimum:
    233 MHz CPU
    64 MB of RAM
50 MB of free disk space
    Windows 98

Notes – The Recommended Requirements for Firefox are much worse:

    These are for IE

    Recommended:
    500 MHz CPU
    256 MB of RAM
100 MB of free disk space
    Internet Explorer – Source

    Minimum:
    486/66 MHz CPU
    16 MB of RAM
11.5 MB of free disk space
    Windows 98

With the new version IE 7 there are now tabbed browsing (which they did copy from Firefox) and is much faster in opening up pages and sites compared to the Firefox/Mozillia. Though Opera is still the fastest but does not have all the features I like.

Do your own test side by side, or you are dead open up a couple firefox window and then IE windows, see which slows down your system more

There a plenty of times when both servers are active, but some people just prefer to play with others. Also some people dont wait around main to for more to join. Again CAD point’s it out the best

Some people have no patience, as for the stats I think we should kill the ranks on both servers, for real skill ratings hold more tournements. Just a though keep up the wonderfull work!!!!!

I like all of the idea’s but Presidents or any other political people. I play many online first person shooters, my favorite’s are FEAR and ALIEN ARENA (Both free by the way). Anyway with the player skinning community suddenely many presidents, actors, ex wifes, and in some cases teachers started to become targets. Not only did this open a can of worms on the forums but also in the game. Though some may find it amusing to chase down your ex wife, girlfriend, teacher, or least favorite political face with a chainsaw or funky I would recommend we not go down that road

    Just my thoughts.

is some basic info on the game but it is a fast and furious fragfest with frantic frenzy of firing features and fraggins,(sorry saw V for Vendetta one to many times).

The only good SF that came to TV was Serinity, Seaquest, Battlestar (Both versions), Buffy,Angel, Andromeda, and Earth Final Conflict.

Though I do agree NUMBER SEVEN can help in recovering from anything 😀

anyone notice the Balder looks like that doctor from Deep Space Nine?? I mean really looks like him.

There are more then a few post on aiming and methods

    http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2281&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

is one that I did a while ago and still applies now,

there are additional aid going on now such as getting help from your IM friends or even taking a quick screenshot, putting on a preset grid overlay from a graphics program and then using it as a aiming guide( though teleporting tends to mess that method up as does moving), or even running another scorched game that is altered so a sniper bot gives you the height and power to hit. Much more complicated then that before you tell me but it has been done by making some data being able to be seen. As for removing the radar grid I find it helpfull but there are both easier and harder ways to aid your shots.

Cheating is defined as an act of deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one’s own interest, and often at the expense of others. Cheating implies the breaking of rules.

So how many rules have been really broken?, and as for an unfair advantage how do you define it? is someone who practices and practices at more of an advantage then someone who uses mathematical proccesses? Should shot time be faster? should the force of gravity be altered from round to round as is wind and wall type?

This game has a learning curve, experience, knowledge of targets playing styles and actions, and physics all play a part. But the label of cheater is being thrown around way to much. It is cute when a child uses a word it does not know but it gets old quickly.

Some people are better, some are worse, some just need practice.

    Rather then Label here

    Learn instead
