Do they auto restart? It’s been soo long I can’t remember with sufficient certainty 🙂July 6, 2016 at 6:06 am in reply to: Skill Points Deducted for Kills on Beginners Server #66258
I asked that and g00b said it been consistent for some time.
I was gonna hit stop server, but IIRC I won’t be able to restart it without CLI access and I can’t remember what I changed my password to (I changed it from the admin panel one due to full sudo access)…July 4, 2016 at 1:15 am in reply to: Skill Points Deducted for Kills on Beginners Server #66256
Armor, I asked g00b to post as he mentioned it the other day while we were in newb server (where I’m so rarely to be found).
I checked the settings in the admin panel and it all looked fine. So seems it’s a deeper issue that I’m insufficiently knowledgeable about.
I’ll try and remember to ask Luisdad about it next time I see him bashing bots. I forgot a couiple of days ago when I saw him there.
Thanks for the answer! So this is actually a part of their “intelligence”? To bad for me I like playing against bots. Anyway, I’ve figured out a “funky” way to trick them into actually firing at me when I use a shield. I’ll have to do with it 🙂
Nooo, no no no, sorry, I just being a dick to AW, it was a joke to fill the time until he pops by.
I’m not a fan of most of the mods (other than ‘none’), so I didn’t know it was a ‘thing’.
Hello there! I’ve got a question although I’m afraid that everybody connected to this wonderful project is long dead/missing or bored to extinction. If the dev reads this please accept my gratitude for making this splendid piece of scorched art. Anyway. Every time I play against bots and they use shields they all tend to skip their moves almost fanatically (I mean they do not move/shoot at all) When I deactivated their ability to utilize those, they started to act normally. Does anybody have any idea about the cause of all this? Thanks for any tips. And once again, great job! Cheers
Because that’s the only way that AW can win any games 😆February 15, 2016 at 6:14 pm in reply to: Scavenger Mod – anyone have the (now outdated) updates? #66253
Playing a bit of ol’ S3d with my son this weekend, and wanted Scavenger mod but it’s not to be found….
Thrax – I believe it was you who kept that alive up to 42.1 (eh) – anyone have that update?
I was thinking to update it. 🙂
I think AW has an archive of the mods, I’m sure he’ll pop by soon to speak for himself.
Thrax has been AWOL for … a while now, I’m not seen him in a couple years, maybe more 🙁
Please don’t teach your son rollers though, let someone else do that, for his own safety 😉
I’ll take a look at message scrapping the server logs.
I do think putting in a system to allow hooking into game events would be neat.
The system could be based on a threaded message queue to protect the game.
When the game starts up, it could look for C DLLs with a particular method signature in a specific directory. It could be as simple as one function with a named event parameter. The events could have categories to organize then a bit better.
As events happen in the game, the events are pushed onto the queue. A threaded consumer pulls the events off the queue and calls the found DLLs.
If one of the DLLs crashed, hopefully it only takes the thread down and not the game.
Anyway, just spit-balling here…
But thanks for trying.
Fixed it for you.
I’ve nudged the only active modder about, hopefully he’ll be able to let ya know one way or the other.
Thanks for the quick replies nut.
Someone’s gotta pull your weight, while you’re off (hopefully) enjoying life.
Unless you’re willing/able to create a package, they’ll need to compile I’m afraid.
We lost our Mac compiler a while ago and another has yet to come along and offer their services 🙁
It’s only easy, once you know how 🙂
I have been reading the FAQ, and it is entirely possible I just missed it, but how to I make Scorched Earth3D go to full screen, as I cannot always select all of my weapons as they appear under my task bar.
by the way, I played the original back form my 386 on…. and I stumbled across this a few years ago, and it is quite fun, great work to all involved!
From initial screen, select ‘settings’ and it’s top right
