Well, im hoping your joking DB, but just incase you wernt (mostly incase anyone else picks up on the idea REALLY) no, Im serious.
I love answering questions for a noob. And that will never change.
Ah, I heard about you and mirrors but could never figure what people were talking about…
I have found that explaining to first timers what AIF IS and why its in their benefit to stick with it tends to help, however some persist, however, they do not then need to be your first target as it’ll usually take em at LEAST 13 shots to kill ya, if it doesnt, I doubt it really is there first time!
This game requires a fair bit of patience, but sometimes in beginners it can get tedious explaining time and time again about everything, if you dont have those patience, I think its best to try another server if noone in main or its full.
Yea, A roller or two will just stop about 10-15% of the time, even floating in mid air has been witnessed by my eyes (only twice that I recall).
A fair few times when this happens however they seem to ‘unstick’ JUST before exploding during which time they shoot off in some random direction.
I must state that it usually only effects one of two of the rollers, babies seemingly slightly more effected than the normal ones, but I have not seen with the heavies (maybe as they are so rarely used).
Is quite nice however as it gives ya hope that they may get the kill while the others have almost left the entire map (yes im that bad).
How the hell would that work though DB?
What if we dont get what we want we all strike?
So I gotta stop playing my current favorite game because someone was gobbing off and thinks that they were badly treated or a map hasnt been added, or the fps is too low etc etc….
The Admins appear to go a good enough job which can be tough along with the Devs, do they really need the players ganging up on them too?
Could be like the stone age times, where ya gotta go through trials to become a MAN and get laid.
Only twist here is, you get to become a child on main and get wooped just as much without ACTUALLY getting picked on!
Damn, sweet map lappy!
As for the fog, I am with Ltd aswell, fog is a tricky thing for a graphics cards to render, if you think about the LEAPS that have been taken with fog effects in games over the last few years it shows how tricky it is to do.
However, with this games level of water detail and draw distance I believe it would (on average) keep around the same fps as shown in Ltd’s screen grabs.
I only started playing this about 4-5 weeks ago and started round mates and 1v1 online (he wasnt very good then either) then moved to beginners where aif REALLY helped as I learnt from the better players not only how to kill / stay alive but also the eittiquette of the game.
If AIF isnt being used then yes, I totally agree with you that its not nice, but I like to TRY to pass on what knowledge I currently have.
That is also what I mean by ‘warm up’ a bit of AIF to get distances and wind strength back into my head!
I have been thinking (and occassionally saying) it would be good to have an intermediate server aswell tho with some REALLY good bots where players can go ‘warm up’ where it wont be a pick on the noob session…November 8, 2007 at 10:15 pm in reply to: Scorched3D version 41.1 source code now available as 64bit #46357
Oh. I’ve got 32 bit windows.
Well ya wouldnt wanna be using 64bit windows ❗
As for top ranked players playing on the beginners servers, I suggest that players above a certain skill level not be allowed acces. Admins of course would need to be exempt and should never try to wipe out the beginners. Guide and teach, that’s the reason for it’s existence, Yes?
Thats the point tho Rommel, to guide and teach you must first be there, it is a problem as to learn the game best, you must learn from the best (then take great satisfaction kicking their ‘tank’ into touch).
I think it would be more appropriate to say that the top rank (just plain experienced) players should try to remember that that server should be a players second stop in the game after the tutorial.
The beginners server is also a nice place to warm up (for those of us that have rollers in the blood) before going to main and a nice way to start the scorched3d day with teaching some noobs some tricks before going and getting funked all over!
I have read the log. There will be no banstixx thrown around over this. Proper action will be taken when opportunity arises.
Yea, ban Vitos and VG so the rest of us can get some kills now n then!
😉November 8, 2007 at 5:40 am in reply to: Delayed defence + auto-defence — unexpected behaviour #46602
it is definately a feature.
Those with auto-defense can/will/do put up their shields and chutes even before most people have finished buying, that is what it is meant to do.
It doesnt take long for people to stop using it to save money and to hide their cards until its time to play them!
The ONE and ONLY use of auto defense in simultanious games is that its hard to forget to put ya defenses in place, which I believe EVERYONE does now n then!
To clarify, auto-defense allows you to put up shields n chutes BEFORE anyone moves, hence negating delayed defense!
He was being rather OTT, but it started with Vitos, then when VG came on, he continued the insults at her.
VG was told about using mute, but decided against it as its rude in her opinion to mute someone, that if you dont like them, dont play the game, which to me is the wrong way around.
Che malec was told a few times to cool it, that he’s usually pretty cool, but this seemed to make it worse!
BTW, I’m pretty sure it was between 0000 – 0100 hrs (GMT) as it wasnt long after I got back up to play the game (your all twisted in creating such an addictive game that atracts such cool ppl)
Hell yea, sounds like a great idea.
Wanted to setup an mcb server anyway, but know naff all about mods, so if ya got one, im happy to run it (bandwidth requirements?)
Money = Points would be ok, but there are times when ya die quick, so spend nothing, or are stuck in a stupid spot and have to take a few shots for a kill, so wouldnt work IMO.
However, im easy, still learning everything, so just looking for experience really!
Yeah I wondered that, but if the admin is logged in they can use admin chat or what ever to tell the person off anyway.
But I believe the point being made is that if peoplpe need help, they will see admin and know who to ask.
Hmmmm, secret police. LOL I was playing on the Main server Sunday (I think) and a player started doing this in the chat ( kjfjldajgvajdlvzdjvkljvjaivhkbvkdbvdl ). I muted him immediately and mentioned that he was trying to crash the server. Next thing I know, one of the (unknown to me) players logged in as admin. Perhaps not showing all of your cards isn’t such a bad idea.
i do that too, its my mutley frustration thing, But I only do it when frustrated by a stoopid shot or something![/quote]
hover mouse over number of players, will list em in toolbar!
