Most sound cards can only play one voice a time (thats it – only ONE program can use the soundcard at once). To solve this, most modern OS’es uses something called a multiplexing server. Thats it, instead of all programs playing to /dev/dsp directly (the souncard unix device), they go through a multiplexing server. The multiplexing server (a daemon) mixes all the soundsources, and sends the mix off to /dev/dsp.

Is it possible to use some sort of sound multiplexing server? Like ALSA JACK or gnome’s whatever or KDE arts

    Happy gnome user 😀

Understand now. If you play sequential, and you aren’t first, you won’t be protected untill it is your turn, and anybody can shoot you.

No point when playing simultanious (this game mode is so much more fun? Why isn’t the default? It was in xscorch (bin a while since I have played the original)

I’ll give the CVS version a try this afternoon. And I too got problems with water/texts.

Thanks! I’ll try it out. Think you can enable it instantly in xscorch though… But it makes more sense this way. 😛

turned down the thing you said to small (3dfx), and got this all over my terminal. Had to kill its terminal to stop it!

Hmm… Give redusing texture size a go. I only got an 16 MB chip…

Finaly gotten myself registered now 😀 (it was me who posted all those awfully large pics. ++)

It could not be TCL that is failing us? Think it says “disabeling TCL support”, and another GL screensaver stopped working too (the antheadligth thingy), stopped showing the “desktop texture…)

It also says something about TCL, which it has never done before…
