just wondering: why don’t I get my map updated in Linux when I blow half the map to hell, when my windows-running friends do?

It does prevent one helluva fps loss. And the effect is really cool too 😀

    Just try it:
    1. get youself something BIG, such as a deats head :p
    2. “aim”
    3. place your cam 2/3 along the bombs route, looking towards the blast
    4. fire and enjoy. the sigth of the many warheads flying past you is really great

I have to do this, unless i get 0.1 FPS when firing somtehing big!

A “whitelight” on nukes would be great as well

What I think wight be a good idea, is if “explotion=huge and camera=follow then zoom_out”
something like that, so that the camera wouldn’t folow a nuke or a death’s head to the groud. Very beutifull effect to use “camera 9” to get into a position where you know a deaths head wil pass (2/3 along its route to destruction), and fire, then seeing all the warheads fly past you on all sides and blasting the hell out of your opponents (and half the island…)

    Thats fun 😀

sure a denser nuke mushroom cloud would LOOK great – but not everybody has such good 3D HW as you…

What i recognize, is that windows apps often reads raw keykodes (which means you got to learn the english keyboard layout), while on Linux (i have no experience with BSD or any other unixes), the “keyprinting” maches that of lookup tables. Not completly shure, but think I have recognized this difference when using telnet to a windows machine from another windows box or from an linux box. And somehow shuch things as backspace/arrow keys ol. didn’t work from the linux box. openssh is great then. Got rid of the windows server now, finaly 😀

This is something I have experienced under several Linux apps. It’s always layout-independent. Seems like Linux does keyboard mapping, while windows don’t, then.

ps: on an norwegian keyboard, the pipe key is in its upper left

hmm.. In my norwegian keyboard thats the pipe “|” key. Strangely, this opens the console in the windows version. Does the windows version not read ASCI codes, but keycodes?
