    Ha, old guys do rule. I have been stuck at home for weeks hurt up. Tried playing a few games, but most are tough one handed (insert one handed typing joke here). Played toribash for a bit but was surrounded by jerks. You don’t have to tell me I suck, I already know. Thought, what game did I used to play?

    So I guess I’m back. S3d is still fun, little bit ghost town like on the servers today. But I got to play a few games with Alice and ArmorWraith. I forgot how much I liked this game. I stopped playing years ago because I ended up living in my van for … a while :/

    Not sure I will have the time to jump back into modding and all that, ArmorWraith seems to have raised the bar! The game has changed a bit since I was last around, it looks awesomer and has tons of little tweaks. It’s great to see all kinds of folks around at least a bit, from years ago.

    Thanks Gavin for keeping on this game, I’m sure you aren’t making much money and I am so thankful I didn’t find out s3d was a dead project. I will try to donate some loot in the near future, been a long time since I donated last.

    PS: I still suck at this game. Can we still call rollering yourself cbx’ing ?

    See you old farts on the servers, I’ll be the tank that keeps exploding.

    Had to run out. Been splattering bots on beginner server 🙂 I remember those days.

    Oh and I take it you did the awe mod? Either way that mod is nuts! I never got anywhere close to the level of detail in models and weapons. Blows my mind!

    One of the reasons I love s3d so much is that its one of the only games around that can still be played online with a dialup connection. If it were to start streaming, well, anything at all realy, many people would have to stop playing. I would hate to have to stop playing online :[

    About new funny weapons, I read that 2 ways. One being, you wish there were new bombs to shoot. To that I say look at a few mods, the official no-mod servers change very slowly and with lots of discussion and all that. There are a ton of mods with drasticly diffrent weapons right now. All you have to do is log onto a server running one and it will download the mod before you play.

    You could also mean you wish there were some new weapon primatives (for modding) to which I can do nothing but agree. But, personaly I cant think of any real good ideas for new weapon types that cant already be rigged as is.

    With the maps, I mean, same thing about mods. There are tons and tons of maps around and if you have an hour or two to burn why not make a few of you own? Click on the docs icon above and you’ll be able to find instructions to make you own maps/textures.

    The game seems pretty interective to me, not realy sure what you mean by that honestly. Oh and the game is only free after you donate something (anything helps!) hehe.

    Im gonna have to agree on leaving it 500k. If its something much bigger use one of the many free web storage sites. If the link has to be more perm you might want to think about buying a little server space (or paying for one of the web storage accounts that lets you keep links for longer).

    This forum doesn’t realy seem like a place meant to distro acual mods. Its pretty easy to find 50 megs of space somewhere to host things though.

    Sweet! I didn’t see it on the todo list, my fault. The smoke texture isn’t nearly as usefull, but what thrax is talking about is something we have talked about before. Is there an easy way to add a texture color invert tag to explosions? So you could make a white explosion texture and invert it?

    Also, aren’t most models going to be animateable and allow transparency next version? Man, its gonna be hard not just making custom explosive models/animations for each explosion. That reminds me to figure out how to acualy use milkshape.

    Oh, sorry doom never saw the last bump, and no there will be no updates, this mod attempt (my first) has been abandoned. Everything in it is up for grabs to anyone. I will not be finishing this mod, or realy re-using much of anything. This was my first mod, my second 2 (both made it to like 75% done) were never released at all. I want to wait until I have something more then just new weapons/maps before I start trying to trick other people into trying it.

    I am working on what is still called (as a working title at least) arcade mod. I have no beta or anything for it. All I will say about it is most people will hate how I decided to use shields. Well, I am more making this current mod to try a few ideas before I make a much better version of it. But, I work 7 days a week and generaly take about an hour to calm down when I get home. Many nights I’d rather go get blown up on a server then work on a mod.

    BTW, doom, you gotta start playing online with us man, how can you possibly try to make a mod for a multiplayer game when you dont know the acual flow of a multiplayer match? If youve been playing half decent bots the whole time you will be a pretty good match for most players. Whenever your online check and see if I’m playing on a server, come explode with us.

    Doom, just so you know the weapons in that mod i linked to awile back, i think your using a few (which we already agreed was fine) in doom mod, i never set damage amounts. I had them all set to like 100 so they would insta kill. Most of my testing is done by making realy good bots and giving them tons of money and letting 8 blast it out by themselves for an hour or so while i sit there and drink beers. So, you should make sure and lower all those damage numbers like, alot hehe.

    Just figuring out the way everything is organized in a mod is a huge step. Once you figure out which files are needed to do what its realy just a matter of reading through the docs that a few brave souls have been awesome enough to put together for us all. After you start modifying existing weapons you will start to get ideas on how you’d like to change them. At some point your changes to a weapon will turn it into something very diffrent, and then you’ll realize its usualy faster to start from scratch.

    Everyone here is very helpfull. Just try not to feel rushed, I have a feeling alot of the people here will be here still for a very long time. I personaly have been very inspired by how active development in general is, makes me want to up my game for sure. Even if the core development of the game was to stop right where it is now, we would all have enough tools to try out countless new ideas. The current mods are pretty amazing if you stop and think about it, tons of work has been put into them. Some people *cough* thrax *cough* shockwave *cough* boy *cough* jdog *cough* cbx *cough* that bob guy, have been realy pushing the bounderies of what is possible. Oh and that Gavin guy seems to have done a bit too 🙂

    I can’t realy remember where I was going with this hah.

    That was kind of stupid of me, you at least need the lightning texture I used in that. Its realy old and I cant remember what the is suposed to accomplish at this point.

    Congratulations for sure. HWB, always fun to play and always in the process of killing me. Havn’t played tnick337 too much, but always great games (that I usualy lose hehe). And Vihor, always a great game, always best to agree to a bbm game so you dont fling the big stuff at us!

    Oops, then I meant to search the forum first. Sorry hehe, but someone randomly told me about it and then let me stomp them into the ground a few games in a row. I forgot how alot of weapons worked back in the original 2d type version. Either way, sorry :/

    The thing to do (if anything) would be to add some sort of tag to an accessory to let you use it and still continue your turn. As in, you could fire off multiple shots per shot. It would be kind of neat if you had 2 shots from a realy weak weapon you could aim in 2 directions in one move. And yeah, it could lead to some realy unbalanced mods but so can anything.

    On another note too, if you stuck in first person view and your shooting over a hill at someone, how are you suposed to aim? If your first shot misses and you cant see the crater from your point of view you wont know how to compensate for your prior miss.

    So youd realy have to have it set up with weapons that only can fire in a straight line easily. Then have alot of fuel (or infinite) so you can easily position yourself to take the next shot. I realy think you should check out bobirov’s mod. Check the mods icon in the top right corner.
