The site was out?

Oh… Right.

EDIT: Oh man, my sig and everything else is messed up since it’s not a black background anymore.

ost annoying thing I found was that WMP 11 is not available for Server 2003.

I heard some people managed to get it to work by slipstreaming it into the disc with WMP slipstreamer but I suppose that doesn’t really help you if you’ve already got a well-established installation of Server 2003 already.

I’ll try it and see when I get it.

Check it out here: http://www.boooggy.org/slipstreamer/

EDIT:

There’s also a method out there to install WMP 11 on an existing system but there’s a good bit of rigging involved so it may or may not work right.

I’m thinking about trying out Windows Server 2003 soon. I’ve heard that it’s faster than XP and a little more streamlined due to the new kernel in it. Plus it runs almost everything that XP does.

You just have to configure a few things first so it runs like XP.

For your sig, make sure you have around the url.

For avatar, the limits are listed on the profile page (80X80 pixels and under 6KB). This goes for pics that are uploaded from another site as well.

Not sure about all the file types it supports but I’ve used both GIF and JPG. GIF being really useful for file size on the avatar.

Btw, welcome to the forums. Nice to see another player who lives semi-close to me (in comparison to everyone else here).

Who’s losing out on anything? Is the community losing anything? Is Gavin losing anything? Is anyone losing anything?

Personal gain can be just as wrong as losing something. I don’t really agree with how that’s written in the GPL, it being lawful or not but I really can’t argue it so I won’t.

All I know is, if I take 7 years to make something, I would rightfully be a little pissed if someone tried to take credit for my work by not putting my name on the box (and possibly other portions. we don’t know yet) and by making money from it.

I found this little piece on Crystalxp.net, and it might help with our own Tshirt dillema, according to this piece next year we should be able to enlarge a picture with no resolution loss!
So if this article is true, we would be able to use the original Scorched3D logo without trying to come up with a new one, I would buy a S3D shirt, but honestly, it would not be a Scorched3D shirt without the original logo, IMO.
just thought I would share 😉

Thanks for the link. I found that to be an interesting read, Dire.

I have also doubled my Video card memory through an option in the BIOS, (think it is 128, it was 64 when I visited). and I will see how it affects scorched.

Better make sure that it’s 128 because setting this to the incorrect setting may affect performance.

Also, about the installing XP on a external drive, it’s not made to do that but here’s a site that shows you how with some extreme rigging.

http://www.ngine.de/index.jsp?pageid=4176

The only problems with this is that 1) whatever system you use it on, it must support bootable USB and 2) it may simply not work despite rigging it to do so because windows ties it’s installation to things like the type of motherboard and BIOS to prevent it from simply being moved from one computer to the next. Even if it did boot up, it’s likely that you might have to reactivate XP again. And 3) if you get past all that, you’d have to install drivers for whatever system you run it on which may or may not be covered in Windows generic drivers (definitely not if running on a newer system).

Good point FREAK, in fact isn’t that game shareware. They would have more grounds for complaint than us. Perhaps a posting on their forum is in order.

I’ll shoot them off an email soon and see what they say. Give them a link to the forum page too.

But first, I want to wait and see if their game is actually on the disc. They may not even care if all that’s on there is a screen shot.

Add some more from version 41.3

I’ll probably take some for 42 just before it gets released if it’s got enough notable visual differences. I dunno yet because Gavin hasn’t explained much of what he wants in 42 yet as you’re well aware since you’re a developer.

I believe I took that screen shot.

I wonder why they have a second screen shot up of Pocket Tanks, lol.

ReactorFighter, have you been able to install the game yet and see if it’s actually Scorched 3D?

Ah, but what if he spoke to Gavin / Devs and got permission, maybe charge £1 more per copy to donate.

Friends with dial up or even those without net access….

Surely that would be good for the game, more players and more donations.

Which is exactly why I didn’t speak for Gavin on the “allowed” part of the conversation.

But that sounds like a fair proposal to me.
