played a bit with the new shields last night, they are set nicely, good work gavin. I tend to agree with willis who wants the rollers to so some damage to shields as they bump into it. very small damage would be all that is needed, even as low as one point per bump. this is of course not really all that important since on the flip side, it will make people use more creative ways to take out shields. the price adjustments are good as well, giving eveyone the ability to be better armed.
I logged on and first round i discovered this too! 💡 instant cash! I was hoping to take advatage of this for one game only, then report (seemed fair) but nnnnnuuhoooooooo, you had to go and do this post and the very next round gavin had it fixed!!! LOL DAMN the bad luck! 😛

Boy is 3 letters and fits in any name slot at arcades, nintendo game scores, and other PC games high scores, Who the heck knows who all those dumb initials belong to. Unless your name is Tim or Tom or Bob, or something, but there are way too many of those so how do people know who you are? Suprisingly “boy” is almost completely unused!
I like to think that in your subconscious some of you are a bit irratated at having been killed by a harmless “boy”. Its ok, really i am a killer cyborg.
you may have noticed that i have other aliases, the versions of myself are due to my adaptive programming. As I improve my programming, I update as a new version. But i also revert to other programs that have influenced me in the past such as Locutus, The Force, or generic cyborg which is basically my bare programming.

New stats mean a chance to improve my shooting percentage more easily! YA!
I really like the idea of putting stars or medals my the names of players who have some high stats from previous lists
I did vote yes, but i would like to say yes only if the reset is after at least several months of play or when the total of all kills reaches like 50,000 or 100,000 or something like that. We could introduce something like a season with a Tournament or Playoffs to wrap it all up.

I tend to make many down the barrel shots, i’d say 75% of the time i check this view before shooting. Would it be possible to make the damn red thing sit at a user defined height? or perhaps lower the point of origin of the missle so that it corresponds to, say, the avg height of an artillery or tank model (excluding pee wee models)
Sadly though, if you do change any more settings i am sure i (and many of us) will be used to these by then and we might be set me back for a day or two. 😛 I admire your effort to get it closer to real though. It really is better, even if not easier to use yet
One last but possibly dumb question, did the height of tye view actually change to correspond to the red indicator’s new height (ie does the turret view center on the tip of the indicator, or did the indicator move alone?)
Force shields seem much much more effective, The best and most simple solution: adjust the price of the shields to reflect the effectiveness. EASY
As they are, they make the game harder — GOOD
The only problem with the force shields before was that diggers were much too effective against them, that was solved by the increasing the shield radius. Now that shields are also more powerful, a price adjustment might be nice but not all that crucial I think that for the same price, only 2 are purchased instad of 3 is a good compromise.
Firstly there was no problem with the original POV – I liked it.
It seems to me that both the previous POV and the current one are both a bit wrong as compared to the true aim. Although, the 38.0 version seemed to be wrong in a helpful way for me. I never realized that the thing was drawn based on my tank hight before, but it took only a few seconds to realize what gavin had done (and why he did it) when i first played the 38.1 version.
Now it seems that picking the same tank each time I played was very lucky for me indeed. my little starwars tank is very low and I am used to aiming under a tank at close range at same elevation. Of course this is inaccurate when accounting for a true drop in elevation of the missle due to gravity, which if aimed truly in line with my POV would in fact hit even lowet than the aim. Yet, it is convenient, as if my rifle were already “sighted in”
The current version does seem to always land lower than the line of site of my turret view even at close ranges, which is annoying at first but i can adapt. It is an unfortunate hickup, many of have programmed ourselves to the old aim.
easy, just set up your own 1 player game against computers. Be sure to set arms level and starting money properly. There are no cheat codes.
I think that most of the problems with the text can be fixed by moving the little bubbles for elev, power, angle off to upper left of weapon icon to edge of screen, and making weapon icon a little smaller could help too.
the health and parachutes readings could also be moved to right edge and stacked above fuel etc…. An option to have text on the top of the screen would be good move but the text has only caused me problems when it overlaps my power and elev and i got to wait for it to go away to adjust my shot.
I think it is a pretty cool idea, I agree with Fungus, anyone should be able to play. The prize is easy. We could all wager a certain amount of our skill points for the game (or series of games). The winners take all the points and the losers just lose’m. It would be so risky, I love it! (I basically stole this idea from Willis in another recent post)
As far as skill points go, there would be no overall gain in skill points for the players as a whole, only points changing hands. Alot of them! Or there could just be a big point award for the winners, like all the skill points awarded in the Tournament would go to them.
