Why they call these drones, I will never understand. Generally a drone has semi-autonomous functions, these little quadcopters are little more than toys with go-pro cameras on them.
Anyway, pretty entertaining video 🙂 Definitely made my day!
I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.
Watch as these magnificent birds form “tools” to help them gather food.
Quite an interesting take on the animal kingdom. Apparently Cockatoos form complex social groups, and even pass skills on to fellow members of the group to facilitate their survival.
You learn something new every day!
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

Hello there mate,
Making tank skins is fairly easy with just a little bit of elbow grease and a plan. WARNING: You can seriously mess up your game if you are not familiar with directories or basic coding principles. If you require help, simply ask, and I can set aside some time to help you out.
First you need to decide what tank you want to re-skin, once you do that, you need to look for it’s skin in either the mod folder, or the global mods folder. (preform a windows search for these folders, if you cannot locate them, ask me directly and I shall help you find them.)
Depending on how radical you wish to alter the skin you will need one of these programs, or both.
– Milkshape 3D
– Graphics editing program
I recommend adobe photoshop, or clip studio paint for creating or editing textures. Obviously adobe photoshop is more popular, but clip studio is cost effective and will do much of what you would wish to do in photoshp.
After you have decided what graphics program to use, you will open the tank’s 2d image/skin in your graphics editor. This is the fun part where you get to be creative and design your skin.
After you have designed your skin, you simply save it with a file name you can easily locate and reference.
After you have saved your skin file, you then insert it into the tanks folder of the mod or global mod you have decided to add the tank skin to. WARNING: Do not save your tank skin as the original file name, it will be overwritten when you connect to the server with the original skin and be lost.
Then you will need a text editor program, notepad will do fine.
open the tanks.xml file using your text editor and copy/paste the original tank’s definition.
lets say I wanted to add my new skin to the desert eagle tank in awe. I would simply take this:
You will need to rename it so the engine doesn’t give you an error.
and link my new texture like this:
Custom Desert Eagle Tank Skin Test
Then you would save your edits as an .xml file in the original location.
The next step is to locate the original tank mesh file, rename it, and open it up.
You will need to change each texture path at the very bottom of the ms3d file to match your new skins.
Save the file as mynewskin.txt
Run the engine, see if your tank skin was successfully applied.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Perhaps if you need one-to-one guidance, we can set up something over skype or join.me, or my livestream and I can show you how to do this real time.
All the best,
Raptor version seems to be em, the newest v44 is version ew. I would need to go through and make hundreds of changes to images, sounds and filepaths in order to update it.
I’m just way too swamped with school and graduation at the moment, maybe someday mate.
All the best,
Unfortunately Panther owned the raptor server, and since his departure, it may well be the end of it. I just don’t have the manpower, know-how, or time to host two separate mods properly.
The awe server is actually owned by Gavin, I supply the mod work, and we both mostly work out the issues that arise together.
I will see if I can nab a few hours in the next few days to take a look at it, perhaps I could give you a local version to play. Well, see, everything’s pretty tight on this end with my last semester college just around the corner.
It is a shame Panther is gone, I really did enjoy his work.
All the best,
Good to hear! If you hold the W key in game, you can make the water transparent, which will allow you to see under it.
Welcome back mate!
Have you been able to get it to work offline?
Try launching a custom game from the main menu. Let me know if you get any errors.
I was able to reproduce your error perfectly, but that setting fixed it for me. hmmm
Let me know,
In your Scorched 3D settings, turn tank detail up to max, and see if that fixes your issue. It actually does not slow down your computer, as most of the models I have made are low poly anyway.
Let me know if that helps.
Been real busy lately. This summer I have made my earnings by selling art on my picarto channel. It started as just a fun thing to do in my off time, and eventually people started asking if I would accept payment for my work.
Every now and then I get artist block, or de-motivated, mostly over trying to paint. When I was younger all I did was draw, I never colored anything, fell asleep in color theory lectures, the whole 9 yards. So teaching this stuff to myself can be extremely difficult at points. This is some of my latest work, I am not too happy with it, as none of them is finished, or how I had pictured them in my head. I am in a bit of a rut at the moment with color, and I was hoping maybe you mates had a few ideas and whatnot. Feel free to critique, point out things etc. I’m just a hobbyist trying to get better, so any advice or input helps!
Also I am looking for some good painting and color theory literature, so if you know of someone, or some books, please pass them on!
Thanks for your time, and have an AWEsome day/night!
That’s so strange, no one else has had an issue with it after re-downloading. I have triple checked the tank types and they are indeed there and correct. It may be a problem with XP after all.
I will talk with Gavin to see if he can troubleshoot this, unfortunately I don’t have access to an XP os or computer.
Get back to you soon,
That’s a very strange error for you to be receiving. The only time I have ever seen that error is when the tank types are left undefined, or unable to reference the type tank.
Did your download get interrupted by any chance when you were connected to the server? That has caused a few issues already.
I recommend a fresh download from the server. Flush your local mod files. They can be found by:
– preform a windows search for a folder called .scorched3d
*it is usually located in your OS C:// drive/users/username/
– once you locate the folder, double click on it, inside will be a folder called mods
– inside the mods folder you will find a folder called awe, delete it
– reconnect to the server and see if it resolves your issue
if you cannot locate the .scorched 3d folder, try preforming a search for the awe folder
Let me know if this works for you!
I am proud to announce the public release of AWE V44 For Scorched 3D!
Gavin has worked hard to bring many changes to the engine to make awe possible.
The new version utilizes every aspect of the Scorched 3D engine to bring you the most enjoyment possible out of the engine!
Please enjoy the new version , and feel free comment with your thoughts about it!
Just connect to the online server to download the mod automatically!
You may also download and install the mod manually from my google drive here:
Simply unzip this folder and paste it into your users/username/.scorched3d/mods folder.
I hope you enjoy it, and as always-
All the best,
Thanks, as always Gavin!
Some exciting changes here! AWE will be open on its V44 release very soon!
I will be maintaining it separately from the base client to facilitate easier tweaks and avoid confusion with the globalmods folder.
Hope to see you mates there!
All the best,
