    hey i downloaded both the graphics pack and the game itself. How do i load the game?

    Cant really say much, just that it doesnt work on my 7200. Any idea of anything we could do to make it work? Download a wrapper or something?

    hmm. i can’t run Scorched.exe, it comes up with a dialog box that is labeled

    WaterMap

    and says
    ERROR: failed to load cubemap

    also

    ‘What graphics modes can you see when you go to the advanced/adapter screen on the display settings dialog.’

    how do i get to this dialog, as i have never seen it.

    1: TRACERS 2: SMOKE TRACERS

    I agree tracers are pretty usless at the moment. They were useless in the original too. I am thinking of changing them so the traces left persist for the entire round (like you said). I may also change them so they are not seperate weapon choices but can be enabled on all weapons.
    e.g. A nuke with tracers enabled would leave a path.

    3: BABY MISSLES

    Not sure about this one. If missiles are limited you could get to a point that no one has any weapons left and just needs to resign.

    4: FREE MARKET ECONOMY 5: COMMUNIST ECONOMY 6: SIMULTANEOUS

    These are modes from the original game and will get done when I get time.

    7: VARIABLE WIND The wind changes direction and force after every round.

    I decided not to do this (i may make it an option) because in 3d this would make the tanks really difficult to hit.

    8: MIRV pattern

    Not sure about this either (I’ll play and think about it). I don’t want to make this weapon too powerful.

    This is very strange, the fonts are generated from the Windows Font ‘Courier New’. As long as this is installed it should be ok.

    I will add a switch to allow non-aa fonts to be used this may help.

    Yeah I am doing updates all the time. It will take sometime for me to put in all of the original features but i will get there.

    – different skin for each weapon, rather than the sparkle-thingie.

    Lots of people have asked for this, I will do some more effects when I get some time.

    – the ability to use more than one shield at once, allowing 2 or 300% shield energy

    Interesting I did not think of this. I think not allowing more than one makes it more stategic though. Also I am adding stronger shild types that will probably make this point invalid/

    – tank fuel, so that the tanks can move *not the tower things, though*

    People stop asking for this, I will do it soon promise.

    – a landscape creator/editor

    The default landscapes are generated on the fly and cannot be edited (they can be saved though). I am going to allow the landscape parameters to be changed (like hilliness etc..).

    Landscapes can also be specified in bitmap form through the command line. Landscapes can be created in any program that creates 24bit bitmaps. There are some example landscapes in the source package (datamaps).

    The screen resolutions are obtained by querying windows for resolutions available in the desktops color depth. You could try changing the desktops color depth and see if more appear. You can also use the -width and -height flags directly on the scorched binary.

    Yes I have. DirectX 8.1 and the latest detonator there is. It’s still playable, though. But it takes a lot of guessing.

    death head’s spread is nice. should be more expensive though

    being the game is 3rd i’d like the funky bomb to shoot off in a random direction and the mirv should break off to make a tight circle blast instead of a straffing run of bombs (one bomb in the center and 6 in a circle around it or somethin)

    Tracers in the orignal were useless except they really got through force feilds

    in the orignal all shots left a trail but they dont in this game. smoke tracers should leave a trail for several turns so you can line up and modify your shots until your aim is right for that nuke

    market ideas are nice and closely modle the orignal

    Actually, ‘petrol’ (as you say it) would be quite nice to have; a moving tank can really throw off an opponent’s aim, ‘specially the human ones.

    Similarly, you could add batteries so that really badly hurt tanks can repair themselves. And a friend of mine whom I convinced to get your game would like to have the plasma weapons. He’s quite mad (in both senses) about them…

    i want it mainly because it seems i always get screwed behind a huge hill that sucks to shoot around or over but if i were on tip of it…..

    also that reminds me of the leapfrog missle which would be nice for blasting through mountains….

    Sorry I don’t know.
    The fonts are created from the definitions obtained from the installed MS truetype fonts.

    I have a geForceII, AMD and Windows 2000 and it all works for me. Have you tried the latest graphics card drivers??

    The two things I noticed not having the most were batteries (which probably wouldn’t take too long to add– maybe I could even take a look at that ) and teams (Which I could see really taking a while to add, so that might be low priority)

    Oh – Fuel would be cool too, but I could see that being hard to do and really messing up the A.I., espesically the tosser.. I mean every time you moved, he’d have to start over.
