    Ok.. tested all 3 available builds, (Yours, DeathStrykers, and My own)..
    and I do not blame Gavin, i Blame Microsoft…

    With Gavins hosted ‘tourny’ server, no effects ever happened in a
    1-on-1 battle.(maybe add a second bot to be sure).

    With DS’s builds, i still get the dissapearing without dying effect.. But
    never got a rise-from-the-dead effect.

    With my own build, using the exact same source files and the
    letter-for-letter setup off the wiki, i get all the effects we’ve been
    discussing.

    Apparently.. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition will build
    something differently for everyone. For no reason at all other than to
    create chaos..

    How quickly does this happen?
    Just you on the server?

    I am just looking for some information that will help me reproduce the issues.

    I wonder if this is to do with the servers.

    I am running my server under unix. You run under windows do you not?
    Also are you running same client as you built for the server?

    normally, i was pulling down the latest and building all 3 files each
    time.. so always up to date.

    I serve and play from winxp, and besides the resource drain they
    have almost always built and run clean.

    Figuring it may have all been in my head, i got DS’s and tried them.
    They were the same sizes, but diddn’t have the same bugs.
    i’ll run with his for a while and see if Nimblor can get any errors to pop up.

    I do think that they will not often occur in a 1-on-1, since there’s no
    extra players to keep the round going long enough to see if players
    ressurect next turn. Possibly drop another cyborg into the tourny
    server and we’ll be able to test.

    Thanks for adding the 2nd bot, it helped solve our questions.

    I started in there and shot a few rounds ok. Then while lobbing shots to
    target one of them in, it vanished without warning and the round ended.

    Soon after, Nimblor popped on and we experienced a few more of that
    effect over the next game and half.

    I’d have suggested that you check the logs, but i know that logs say
    nothing about kills. All you would see is my griping about the bots
    vanishing… 😛

    Two out of my 3 games crashed. This time for some reason my settings got reset too. Resurrections and disappearances also happened on each server. I never had crashing problems before.

    I just played a game on the Tournament server and had similar issues. In round 3 I killed (AI) Ted w/ a digger, then I see the shot timer and a big hole where Ted was. I pressed space and didnt kill the ghost, but he killed me. I’m not sure if I got credit in the score for the kill. Later in round 8 Ted killed himself w/ a Baby Nuke and the same thing happened. This time I noticed that when he re-appeared, he was floating. Neither of us killed the other, but the round just ended after that shot.

    It also crashed when I tried to use fuel (it happened during an offline APOC game too w/ fuel). I had other problems w/ fuel but I will post them in a new Topic.

    Ok Gavin, ran your protocal df version. played 2 games on tourney, and 2 at my servers.
    Diddn’t get any of these bugs at all. Was rather refreshing!

    Thanks a ton for looking into them.
    I hope the only undead i see now, will be in Half-life.. 😀

    I will update my builds tomorrow (errr, later today) and upload them. Right now, I’m at work.
