Not likely, probably just a lot of places in between.

Do you have software or router firewalling that may be in the way?

If they give logs, check them at the times you fail to connect, see
    if there’s a denial.

It also looks as if you are using a Lan connect to get out.
the 192… is an internal, not your internet address. If you have the client
setting of Other > Validate Server IP enabled, it may be rejecting the link.

There’s a bigger chance that there are some port blocking routers or
    firewalls somewhere in the line.

Without the propper openings, even a good ping and trace-route will fail.

Hey POM, hows yourself and the family? I am still here but i am unable to play due to this stupid connection thing. Im pretty sure it is down to my router (BT Home Hub) but it is supplied by my isp (BT internet) and im stuck with it (or possibly even the isp, its the same as jocks you know 😉 ), im wondering if port forwarding may help, prior to this router i did manage to make a static internal ip and port forward s3d in an attempt to run a server, but i no longer have that router anymore, any ideas what ports i need opening for s3d? Good news though, in december my contract is up and im gunna move over to cable, for the same money im paying BT for a 2mb connection i can get a fibre optic 10mb connection for the same 🙂

    port forwarding

My old man and Uncle have home hubs, I’ll have a look next time im round for how to use it on those routers (if I remember), if you’re unsure how to do it.

i can remember how to do it, just needed to know what ports needed forwarding 🙂 TY. (i dont think i need to goto the hasstle of a static internal ip though)

Ports forwarded is windows xp firewall and my router…… didnt make any difference at all 🙁

I just scrolled up the error window, it says failed ip security check

Whats that?? and why did i fail it 😛

you shouldnt need to forward ports to play scorched. port fowarding only applies to hosting scorched servers.

ive had some issues connecting from windows for a while. just cant connect using the in-game server list.

try connecting using the shortcut files available on the servers page. (i.e. download one of the files by clicking the blue arrow, then associate the file with scorched3dc.exe)

    ps:
from past experience, first place id look would be dns. could be way off, but try an alternative dns.

LOL well i fell asleep finding out about DNS, i now know what it is, but how do i get a different one?

From the internals of my router,

    Connection Information

    Primary DNS: 194.72.9.34
    Secondary DNS: 62.6.40.178

    Is that any use?

WOW tht made a massive difference! With my original BT DNS setting it would hang on ‘connecting’ then if it ever got past that it would hang on ‘authenticating’ eventually geting the disconnect. With thesenew DNS settings ‘connecting’ and ‘authenticating’ flash by so quickly i dont even see them!! I can connect to beginners with no problem (just got on first time and played a few shots’ there is no one on main at the moment but i can connect and wait in the ‘lobby’ without gettingkicked 🙂 Ill see how it goes later when there are a few players about. If i put the old DNS back then i get the problems immediatly.

Thanks lappy and irish i think you fixed my long term conection issues! (i knew it was my stupid isp 😛 )
