ha ha. youre kidding. impact. that’s a font i always skip over. i always think of it as the kind of thing you see on photocopied amateur leaflets you get through your door. you know the kind of thing. someone gets their first PC in 1996 and suddenly theyre a desktop publisher. 3d text, no problem. clip art. animated gif files for everyone!

maybe i shouldnt be such a font snob.

    heres a nice website : )

i think it needs a hit counter and maybe some more background images. maybe a few blink elements.

i cant tell if thats sarcasm, but if it isnt, google vector and raster? theyre fundamental concepts – easy enough to understand with a quick read of wikipedia. youre probably already familiar with it without realising.

it has a tune? nice. must not work in FF. (i just googled for ‘worst website ever’ and that’s what it gave me : )

eww, photoshop. yeah, vector drawings are basically pictures that are drawn with numbers instead of pixels. eg, imagine you had to describe a square with a maths equation. that’s kind of how it works. the advantage is that vector images are completely scalable – you dont lose any quality when you zoom in.

most image editors have vector support in one form or another. the file format you export in isnt that important if youre creating a font from the image anyway. it’s no problem to trace a simple raster image to vectors with special software. (making font files takes specialist software – i use something called high-logic fontcreator)

you probably will want to draw with lines and cruves, though, as you say. a good trick to help with that is to use your image editors grid and snap features.

    Used an online program, costly..

**edit- this dosent look to bad imo, but i would rather make it myself

that’s a trace on the existing logo. no, that’s not really what i meant, but dont worry.

    OMG…er

Save your soul, burn your retinas!

Well, if you used that for a website it would likely generate some “interest”

    super close one.

    that is close

    whats a trace for?

oh, full bitmap traces can be useful in things like flash animations. there’s usually not a lot of point when the image is really complex, like fire. it reaches a stage with complex vector stuff where the file size is larger than a lossless raster equivalent.

we’re in real risk of hijacking AI’s thread to death. sorry! maybe we can get a moderator to split this stuff off to a new topic?

Keep up your momentum with this; I’m interested in seeing how it turns out.

That preview image is going to work perfectly.

I would like to add a bit more grunginess to the top part of the image, if thats ok, make them look a bit more scarred.

Work on it after school today, big senior portfolio day. :I scary

Your talking about the atomic bomb one right, might also add 2 tanks or similar.
