I just got one of these; it’s a USB device, and it works quite well with the supplied demos, and with Winamp (my main reason for getting it was 24-bit audio for high-quality sound recordings obtained via etree). I have it plugged into a USB 2.0 port, running under Win2K. However, on Scorched3D, I get all sorts of clickety-click noises that don’t happen when I use the built-in AC’97 audio. Any ideas? The easy way out is to power off the machine, unplug the Audigy, and reboot to use the AC’97 audio. 🙄 Contrary to typical USB devices, it doesn’t take kindly to being unplugged while active.

A better solution than rebooting was to simply set my Scorched3D user’s audio preferences to use the AC’97 sound hardware as its preferred sound output. (I never play using the administrator login.) Then I just have to remember to plug the headphones into the right jack. 🙂
