Hi! I was wondering if I could turn off only the
shadows that tanks and trees cast. Look at that:

See? The tanks’ shadows are way too big and the trees’ shades
are completely black, and they are too big either!

Ofcourse my computer can run scorched3d with
full detail with no problem but I don’t like those shadows. ](*,)
    How to switch them off?

Btw, the texture and the map are
completely made by me, exept water, sky and scorch.bmp

    In settings under speed&troubleshooting
    turn off
    no gl shadows for objects
    no gl shadows

    See what that looks like.

I didn’t find neither of those
    in scorched3d’s GUI menu.
When I looked into the display.xml,
I found only that, and switched it on.

    NoShadows
    on

Now the tanks look better, but
there are still black spots under trees.
Could you tell me whats the
    “no gl shadows for objects”
    is called in display.xml?
I read all those tags trought
and I noticed anything that could be it.

Btw do you think those shadow things
    in those pictures look ugly?

What I want to know is this:@I like apple pie! wrote:

What’s up with the grid display?

Hoah… There is nothing wrong with that.
That’s art. Perhaps you have heard of it?
It looks cool. Here are the texture files:
    -texture:

    -detail:

-scorch is same than storm’s rockside
-otherwise its similar to denali, water and stuff

    edit:
If you want to use the texture in your
maps, feel free to use it. Make a copy of
texdenali.xml, open it and replace all textureX
with texture0. Then replace scorch.bmp with
storm’s rockside. And finally add there 1-3
placepalms. It looks really cool in that map.

    Back to topic:
So how to get the shadows off from the trees?

If you can find display.xml then you can also use the search function of your text editor. Search for “shadow” and you’ll probably find the answer to your question.

But that was exactly what I did.
I can’t find any other shadow thing than
    this:

    NoShadows
    on

And thats the thing that affects
    tanks’ shadows.

which s3d version you’re using anyway?
because on v41.3, the minimap (the right one) is not round shaped.

    edit:

Thanks for all replies you have posted.
