I’m confused. So we got the good people out of the beginners into main, and then discovered that they are a bunch of dorks and don’t want them anyway?

Lol. That’s one way of putting it.

There’s a reason why they were “good” players that never left the beginner’s server. I mean, seriously, what kind of person sits there and gets 22 kills in a game because they insist on “AI first” and then trashes the noobs with diggers and funkys?

LOL on the last screen Wolffy, I like Death’s Head’s intensity….. apperantly he threw 1 DH that must have landed on himself.

what are talking about in here again????

I’d give my input, but this is my first series here in the scorch world. And I’m not sure I follow issues that have been built up for years.

But I can honestly say that I have royally enjoyed getting me arse kicked by the likes of: NoMoreSteve, Crispy Critter, Kid Chaos, ShockWave, Jinx, Mandy, CBX, Wowbagger, Vihor, Big Mo, Big Bear (when you coming back Bear?), Hobbesme (ok ok not so much…stop resigning!!! j/k), DireWolf,
Viking, Barney, CJ, Willis, Jack, AsH, Amber, Chopper, Noob Bandit, BD, and more recently Apache, Xal, Boy, Hippo, Demi, Ebo, and da Big Fish

OMG! were these guys under witness protection, cuz it felt like they came outta nowhere and started some serious spankin. I guess more of the old school is bound to re-surface. I’m so looking forward to it.

My point is…you dont get that kinda of love in the beginners server.

Oh, and if I forgot your name, just get in line…..there’s plenty of me arse to go around.

    Game On!!!!!!

    The Begginers server issues again?

ok good thing I have spent enough time there
to give an acurate goings on report.

I tend to disagree with many here and have been watching
    the servers closely l8ly anyways.

The reason 80 percent of most players play at the beginners server
is that it is more of a layed back place to have fun & not so serious.

Most of the regular players join in because either..

    1) No one is playing on main and they go where the people are.

    2) Some regulars enjoy playing with new beginners to help them
learn in a kicked back not so serious atmosphere & just having FUN.

    3) Sometimes players want to team together to kill the bots
rather then being so focused on eachother.. this way they make
& feel accepted by new friends.

So taking the beginners server away is a bad idea period.

And dont be angry that not all players are as serious as you
and just enjoy goofing arround with new players for funs sake.

Another reason not to take away beginners is that it might be
a slaughter house & more chances of losing MANY possible new
players being mixed with regular serious gunghoe stat players
as the majority…being killed before they even had a chance to
get close with their baby missles.

As far as regulars going into the beginners just to make easy kills
& creating Anarchy by killing noobs over & over..

this just is not true.. and have only seen 1 case of serious bad behavior.
any regular scorcher can see anothers skill just by watching & observing
    closely for 4 rounds…

If an unknown player seems to be getting most kills 25 or above
& more obvious wins then all the rest ..

Then thats who I focus on & turn away from bots.

As ALL Regular Scorchers who play there should do the same
and it evens things out & gives the noobs a chance to pickup & learn
from mistakes & watch how others do things.

Also this is your chance to play with your skill throttle up to 100
and gives the noobs a chance to see how the game can be at main
or atleast shows them what the *experienced* player looks like.

The only way I guess you could even things out would be to
remove stats.. then regulars would’nt be confused as to what
the goal is there & they might move back to main.
fact being n00bs dont really need stats as it was made for
temporary use.. it just seems to be most popular now is all
and the regulars are a bit upset about it.

And other then that beginners has its own unique
gameplay wich 9 out of 10 enjoy about it.

    ________________________________________________________

    Suggested *Self Known Obvious* Rules
For Any Regular Who PLays on Begginers .
    ________________________________________________________

If Regulars would knowingly understand before they join that..

    1) Noobs are not your focus of kills
    2) Bots are the focus for kills
    3) Helping a noob gives you self satisfaction.
    4) Supervise & teach *powder their rear ends*

They will eventualy..move on to main with the basics
    & pick up more there.

    5) It’s more fun playing with atleast = skill factors or greater
so keep that in mind as it makes you look really pathetic
& frowned upon by others if you pick on n00bs.

    6) Even if actual new players keep focusing on you ..
you dont always *have* to show your skills & hold back
in restraint for the obvious reasons above.

So missing a couple times on purpose wont make you less of a man
& could’nt hurt your rep too bad ..could it?? 😉

Just try and remember at some point that you where also a noob
at one point and so by helping noobs = returning the favor
& = more skilled players in the big picture.

Then we would all be happy

The ulitmate fix for this would be for the Good players to just BRANCH OUT!

Bobirov and I have been chatting recently about the apoc settings. I was wondering if it shouldn’t be easier… as it is, the mod is quite challenging, especially buying stratagies. A game with a decent number of good players winds up being at least as hard or harder than the most competitive game of standard scorched.

    okay, I’ll DOUBLE DARE YOU.

    You’ll be pwned!

    LOL

    j/k & I completely agree & thats a great idea..
we should always keep in mind the goal for all = more players
im fairly posative that new beginners would flock to apoc in groves
if maybe rob took down apoc teams *as players rarely use it*
and just create an apoc for beginners with those settings there.

Not give all weapons mind you.. as that would be a BAD thing
but atleast focusing on leveling settings to cater to the n00bYs
might draw in quite a crowd.

this might mean the same issues as above but rob dont put up with
much nonsense so I think it would work out well

Well, I logged into Beginners a few times to observe. One time there was a player Duke Nukem (ranked 85) with four bots and a beginner. Duke never said a thing the entire time. The noob was asking questions and Duke did not answer, help, or give advice. He just killed all the bots and then the noob.

Another time, Duke (now ranked 80) was in with redi, four bots and a noob. Duke chatted with redi, but largely ignored the noob except to apologize for shooting him instead of the bot. In round 6, Duke had 12 kills, redi 11, and third place was a bot with 2. The noob got one kill all game.

    1) True beginners who were learning the game could play against people on their own level, and some bots when people were not around. Not against seasoned veterns who could school them.

    2) Stat whores who only reaped kills off the deaths of beginners were quickly terminated from the main server. These people I’ve hence seen disapear or move to the beginner server (which is still disapearing in my eyes because I dont play against them..)

I don’t goto the beginner server, I don’t admin the beginner server either.. so I really don’t know what honestly is going on. But neither am I adding to the problem. By this I mean I don’t play there because I too would just target out whoever (not the “bot first” type of guy). I use proper judgement and stay away but that dosnt change how I would be playing.

Now that you (if you didnt already know that) understand my prospective on things lemmi give my 2cents.

If the people are allowed entry, it’s bound to happen sooner or later. And some moral rule or law of admins is not going to enforce it nor should it try. Something concrete should enforce it.

I really think before going all “test mode” on server settings and junk – throw on a simple 100 kill cap (after all this time that’s still only ~275 people!) and run with it for 2-3 months.

It’s been a backburner option since day one and only has not been used becuase total agreement is impossible. News flash nothing has been total agreement its why we’re stuck in this discussion.

Theres two problems from what I read up, (1) is the people who just go after anyone and everyone without any holding back (my style) and then theres (2) the “honest” people who hit the bots and other veterns first before going after beginners.

Is there even a difference? I love Ebonites example, skilled players without even trying are making it hard for newbs to play because thier not getting that satesfaction that experience of making the kill, of making thier shots count.

Picture yourself working on wearing a guy down for 11 moves strait — you threw everything except the kitchen sink (and for some of us we’d throw that too) at them and you wore him down to 10 health… but on move 12 someone else took a shot and stole the kill right out from under your nose. I wonder if that’s how the beginners feel on a daily basis.

well, Bobirov has no intention of making his server easier, which i came to learn also. I dont blame him either. Then it would be no fun for me!

    I need challenge, and action 😀 !.

Oddly, the reason I can’t stand to play on the beginner’s server is that I can’t play “honestly”. An honest game, to me, is getting whatever kills I can. 😉
