I’ve noticed lots of players complaining of slow pc’s (whether on internet or otherwise). I have dial-up-a slower than usual connection also. I have found a system of fixes that will speed ya up (online & offline). I have tried this and IT WORKS!! Take a little time to implement these programs/fixes/tweaks & you too can have a pimped XP system

I’ve used TCP optimizer and CCleaner before. CCleaner, cleans out your temp cache. This doesn’t necessarily help your comp be faster but it definitely frees up space.

TCP optimizer is good for dial-up users because you can increase the MTU’s which helps your speed a tiny bit but probably at the cost of a more reliable data stream. If you raise it too high, it has a greater chance of bottlenecking the stream.

Thanks for your response 😀 If I had only 2 programs as Widoze helpers-
They would be the TCP & Windows care (for me-only). These two really did show an improvement of my pc’s online/offline performance–Per PC Wizard 2007 Benchmark tests (another freebie).

I’m using a MTU #576 for my 56k dial-up…..from what I understand;this eliminates the bottleneck for this type of connection. Adversly if you have a high speed IP the MTU #1500 is recommended.

I’ll be glad when they finally pipe in high-speed to my area-until then-my 56k will have to do 🙂 (It kinda saves me $$ @ $8.95 month U.S.)
