Is there an OSX port of Scorched3D?

Version 36.2 was ported to X11, which runs under OSX 10.3.x. You’ll need to install X11 if you haven’t already done so – you can install it from the 10.3 System CD or download it from http://www.apple.com. You can download version 36.2 here:

I’ve found version 36.2 runs best in full-screen mode with some of the graphics opitions disabled.

It looks like the Mac programmers are still working on porting version 37

Do you have any recommendations on what graphics options should be turned off? There are a lot of options and I don’t feel like going through them one by one to see which is the offending one 🙂

On my 700 MHz iBook with 16 MB Radeon Mobility Graphics, I run the game at 640 x 480 and I’ve disabled the last two lines of graphics options. Note my machine is near the bottom end of OpenGl graphics. If you have a Radeon 8500/9000 or better running on a G4, you can probably run at 1024 x 768 and leave all the graphics enabled.

Well, the program itself is compiled but the launcher app I created for it is exhibiting some strangeness.

You might have to wait until the weekend, sorry.

Also, just to be cantankerous, I’ll point out that it’s still ‘today’.

    :p

Maybe you should wait to release it till 37.1 comes out, if it’s as imminent as it seems. In any case, I probably won’t download 37.0 binary as I’m on dial up and each version is a significant time investment.

How’s the OSX port of 37 or 37.1 progressing?

Sorry, I’ve been busy with school stuff. I’ll get something out soon. I might have to abondon my docked app loader and make people run this from an xterm again, but the release will happen regardless.

Cool – I can’t wait. Starting the game from Xterm is fine.

It’s been nearly 2 weeks since version 37.1 was released for those other computers. How’s the OSX port progressing?

If you’re that impatient, you could always attempt to compile it yourself. It’s the UNIX Way(tm)!

I’m a unix newbie. I know how to create/delete directories and get a file listing but that’s about it. Maybe you can help me with this problem I have with my X11 installation (or is it my scorched3d installation)?
