I was thinking about the new Update Position and how I could use it to and then I came to realize that the weapon would have limits in using it and the code would be hugh to do what I was thinking.
My idea (mostly eye candy)
First, tank aims in direction they want to go, elevation doesn’t matter as it will always start above the tank.
Then a “portal” opens up and a ufo comes out and goes towards the tank.
the ufo stops at a certein point above the tank and “hovers” (repeating update position will be usefull here) while ‘beaming’ the tank up.
(This is where I need the no gravity tank)
the Ufo(projectile) flys across the screen and fires off lasers as it goes.
the laser are more projectile that are lunched with the ufo.
then when the ufo gets to it ending spot it ‘hovers’ again and ‘beams’ tank down.
the first of many cool ideas with update postion 😛 That
would be some cool eye candy, of course you woud need some neat
sounds to go along. 😀
Curiously, a few of us have already made weapons that would
benefit from this. Weapons similar to CBX’s Infiltrator show a
projectile model as an action figure that is firing, but is only a falling
bomb we have to re-create rapidly.
a projectile not effected by gravity would have issues unless you
kept eye on the timedcollisions. Using hi-powered weapons can
overcome the arc somewhat, making lasers effects that are stopped
by targets and land.
