I guess not every1 know but, in result of a admin+players of the game guidelinedecision, a “rules” game can only be made ONLY if ALL players agrees to it. Any player that comes after the game started DOESN’T have to agree to the “game rules”. HE CAN CHOOSE if to play by the “rules” (mcb or whatever) or play regular game. NO ONE is allowed to force him to play only by “rules” that was decided in game’s first round.
Now I know I understan Jimmy when he said he left the main to the beginners because he didn’t want to play a “rules game” and players tried to force him to do it.

Thats what happened to me just tonight:

FIY: in the official server u can play a “rules game” (mcb, baybies, missles or what ever) ONLY if ALL players agrees on it. At ANY time during the game AT ANY round a player who joins the game doesn’t have to agree the “rules”
If u want to play a game rules when ever u want open your own server.

NO ONE IS ALLAWED TO FORCE SOME1 TO AGREE THE “RULES” IN A GAMES IN THE OFFICIALS SERVERS (Beginners, main, Teams.Tournatment..is something else ofcours).
Go to other public server if u want to play only special rules game!

me personaly for one rules are rules and i suppose you are meant to abide by the but take for instance the speed limit when driving everyones breaks it and your not forced to join in but then you slow everyone down and piss everyone off

that statment just made no sense lol

dont no where everyone is from but im from ENGLAND and as a gentlemans rule if you decide in my opinion to join a game that has already started and certain ppl there want to play say mcb to help practice direct shots and want some fun then either you play by the rules or the the curtosy to wait until they have finished

this is my English translation to all the above nonsense where here to have fun not to be didtated to

Apache is ABSOLUTELY right about this…..If any player joining doesnt agree to a rules game then ALL RULES are off. If the players playing want to keep to the rules then they can, its there choice but they should not and can not inforce others to play by them PERIOD (.)

So keep it real guys after all it is a public server.

    DITTO.

The technical ruling was “no rules“, ergo no one person can enfore a rule over another.

The only exception is if YOU are the owner of the server.. in this senerio that would be GAVIN!

People can agree to play a certain way, or as people consider it “rules” – but they do not HAVE to play by it.

It is the responsibility of those who are playing by those rules to confront the joining players if they wish to play by those rules. Failure to do so, or if the joining player declines, automaticly ends these rules and resorts to the basic theory of “no rules”.

    TO sab, I joined in 2nd round…
I did, in the past, joined in mid game of “mcb” and stayed in spectator mode till game was over, to let the ppl therw play the “mcb” (they even tried to convinsed me to join although i wanted to play normal..they had np) and then joined the next game who was normal game.

I love rules, there isn’t a rule i can use to my advantage! ๐Ÿ˜€

or a no rules – rule that I can’t use to my advantage.

    See its like this:

If i know that you know I know, you wont use a certain weapon, then it doesn’t matter if you dont know what you will do, cuz i do know what you will do and when i dont know what you will do then even if you DO know what you will do then it wont matter cuz i know that you know you wont do it.

Did i say i loved rules!? who needs em!

Well Said… Well Said *gives Boy 2 stars for his vocabulary skills*

As for the rules deal, I don’t mind playin rules when there is 2-4 players but if someone else joins who doesn’t agree, I have no problem dropping them (the rules I mean).

Most rules games don’t involve shields, so even if I have to resort to regular play even in the 2nd or 3rd round, my cash flow is more than sufficient to buy any weapons and defenses necessary to DESTROY you alll…..MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

First of all I’d like to say that I totally agree with apache regarding this subject. You can ask people nicely if they are willing to conform to a ‘rules’, but that is pretty much all you can do.

Since on the subject of rules I feel I have to comment this statement:

First of all, I had no idea that any formal ‘rule’ was decided on regarding this matter. I just assumed it was common practice since it’s the only alternative that is feasible. If there are there any other formal rules to abide by I’d like to know. As far as I know there is not a single ‘official’ document that explains what you can and can’t do either in-game or in the forums! In the case I’m mistaken please accept my appologies and direct me to the source. I only ask that I don’t get a sulky comment with a link to a subject on page 30 or something. Formal rules should be put where it’s impossible to miss them!

Secondly, when was this decided and by who? Was there a poll (sorry, but I just couldn’t keep that to myself)? ๐Ÿ˜‰

NOTE: I certainly don’t mean to offend, it’s just that I feel that a lot of grief could be avoided if there were some clear unambiguos guidelines easily accessible for everyone. Even they exist, it cannot be considered a success that for example I after over 6 months with the game have no clue!

    Respectfully,

    BB

So what you are essentially saying at this point is that you can only play rules games until someone shows up and cries I don’t want to play that way. If you allow this it makes it impossible to have a rules game unless you get lucky and donโ€™t have anyone show up that wants to ruin the game in progress, which I would venture that quite a few people enjoy playing. I have no problem if at the START (i.e. before round 1) of a game you wish to voice your objection to playing a rules game, but once a game has STARTED its just extremely rude and inconsiderate to ruin everyone elseโ€™s game just because a game isnโ€™t being played by your preferred rules. Everyone who has every played with rules knows that you purchase items differently when playing with rules versus no rules. This โ€œdecisionโ€ essentially gives anyone who shows up after a game has STARTED an advantage since they get the foresight of knowing that the need to save some money for things other than what the rules allow.

If as it has been claimed this has been discussed and decided upon before I have never seen, heard or otherwise been made aware of said decision until now and would submit that this decision needs to be revisited as the it obviously does nothing but cause problems between the considerate and inconsiderate players. As a possible solution maybe there should be a new rules server created to resolve this. Not knowing what it would take to set up a new rules server this suggestion may be outrageous but I for one enjoy playing a rules game from time to time.

Turgond there is no crying involved. If anything there’s crying to keep a game’s CONDITIONS (i think I’m gonna quit saying rules becuase that word is quite misleading) in tact.

Besides the fact that I don’t see it as ruining a game….. THATS THE POINT.

You cannot force a condition on another person, you can only agree with your peers to play a certain way. If someone enters that dosn’t agree, TOO BAD.

Make your own server if that’s how you feel and only play there, as I said before unless you own the server you have no true say on what a person can and cannot use.

It’s no different then people who play using dirt – we may hate it we may disagree about it but guess what that’s how it is and we have to live with it.

It seems that a lot of people disagree with you on whether or not is ruins the game, and to clarify by game I mean the current set of 10 rounds being played under agreement of parties there at the begining of the set of 10 rounds.

What you’re trying to do is the same as if you were playing soccer on a PUBLIC field and before the game everyone agreed to some change in the standard rules (CONDITONS) for that game only when someone else shows up, joins the game and then says “I don’t like that. I’m not going to play that way. I’m only going to play normal.” It does ruin the game for everyone else who was previously enjoying the game with the agreed upon rules (CONDITIONS) before the game started. I just find this atitude very childish. (As this is an atitude I most often see displayed between children trying to play together.) What is the big deal with just waiting until the game (see above for definition) ends and letting the other people using this PUBLIC server enjoy the finish of their game?

Well you do not own this server either. As someone said before this is Gavin’s server not yours. So what gives you any right to say we can’t play with rules (CONDITIONS) for an entire game? You are right we as players can not force anyone to conform only someone with admin power could do that, but we can implore and repeatedly ask that person to play by the rules (CONDITIONS) that were agreed upon prior to the begining of the game (see above for definition).

Blew this up for you so eveyone could see it.

It’s very different from people who use dirt unless you are playing a game with rules (CONDITIONS) that say you’re not to use dirt.

Yes there was a poll…(checks to find it in the archive)
    Got it: http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2470&start=0

    apache.

LMAO, I even cast a vote in that poll!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Seriously though, that poll got 20 votes which can hardly be considered as a firmly rooted opinion in the community of players. 90 percent in favour doesn’t matter, there are not nearly enough votes cast. And were is it confirmed that this is a guideline to be followed by all players? Is there an anouncement stating so? I think there is some room for improvement in that department. Thanks though Apache for finding the poll, which I’d totally forgotten about. ๐Ÿ™„

Concerning your reply Turgond, I have to disagree. Just because you connect first, it is not up to you to dictate the style of play if others connect to a public server that you don’t run. That type of attitude can just as easily be considered rude and inconsiderate. The problem I have with the beforementioned guideline is that there is no anouncement that it was in effect. To me that means there is in fact no rule, which in turn means that there is no way to force players to conform to ‘rules’ games either.

Sometimes I am amazed at the lack of maturity around here.

I read apache’s post and absolutely no one there sounds mature or kind. I’m sorry apache, but though I agree that rules games are contingent upon everyone’s agreement, I think you were completely rude in how you ignored it. And those already playing the game were completely rude in enforcing it. Everyone was completely rude in that scenario.

    Let’s try roleplay:

    Turgond: hey apache!
    Longbow: hey!
Turgond: we’re playing mcb, is that okay?
Longbow: aw, i don’t really like mcb.
    Turgond: you mind sitting out?
Longbow: yeah, i really want to play
    Turgond: okay, no mcb! cool.
Longbow: cool. normally I sit out, sorry.
    Turgond: that’s okay, man!

PLEASE PEOPLE LET’S BE MATURE ADULTS or if we aren’t adults yet then TRY TO ACT LIKE THEM.
