I think there should be an indestructable terrain feture (maybe a flag) in the xml file. so you can make landscapes inside buildings.

Sounds note worthy, perhaps this could be useful.

    Hi Kangabunny :

You have been doing quite a bit of reading it seems.

Hopefully you are compiling the good ideas you have
been finding and are preparing a list of them with links
    to the original posts.

Although Doom was active here for almost 3 years,
he hasn’t visited the forums since December 20, 2009.

A stroll through his posts might be worthwhile
for providing you with some insights and ideas.

    Best wishes,

    Rommel

hi doom, nice to see you again.

I like the idea, not sure how easy it is to do but it would be a neat feature.

I think there are a number of ways to make indestructable things using structures and textured shields and such. Tricky to do but works. Thrax and Shockwave and Bobirov can do neat things like that I believe. 😉

The spam is only ankle deep here yet, so i’ll poke my head in.

Yes, we could create a shield under-layer, but only in a Flat setting..
And you still cannot Stand on shields.

I actually think that this is worth persuing, An impervious Floor would
probably be very easy to do, since the Cielings already do it.

And i have already had a few situations where i had wanted the land
to Not be damaged. Almost 2 years ago, Shock and i created a second
version of the SWars Death-Star map which used a map-wide Model
covering the land-form. It looked beautiful, and we wanted to replace
    the current map.
But as the dirt below was destroyed, players would fall through and sit
under the model.. So we were forced to shelf the idea untill Models were
made Solid. Making the Land solid instead would help some of us build more
interactive maps. Sitting on sky-scraper roofs, Driving across Bridges, etc..
Untill someday, the models themselves are capable.

how would you make that possible?

would you have to use a color mask?

perhaps all indestructible dirt is in red and non is grey?

    -or-

    True/False

** I like the second option better, easier to use in conjunction with models

I would prefer option 2 as well. A total on/off toggle for the landscape xml.
Then we could pre-form the bmp of the landform, and Place the models on
the propper places. This also precludes the cratering and building-up
from dirt/riot weapons too; Rendering them both harmless except for
the Riot’s secondary EMP in some mods.
