I’m trying to run a server on my machine so that my nephew and I can play online I can see the server on the server list and connect to it beautifully but on my nephews computers server list it shows the server with a question mark and says cannnot connect to server. I’ve checked the windows defender settings on both machines and its set to allow scorched to connect, I’ve tried different ports, I would appreciate any advice.

    Firewalls and routers..

In order to host a game-server , you must allow openings for several ports.

    Server portno# TCP
Server Portno# +1 TCP and UDP. Some changes in the last 3 releases
switched which is used, but helps to cover all the bases.
and Port 80 so that the server can contact the Registration service.

If you are hosting a LAN game, you do not need to select the
[Allow all internet players] check-box. But to host for the world, you do.

I’ve set the ports to forward, tried different ports still no luck getting the server available for connection on the server list. I’d like to try it via lan but there are no details about lan connections for the server…

Only those few are needed, but they need to be open on ALL firewalls, routers,
etc, along the path. As for LAN, it’s the same thing. If players cannot get in
via the portno#, or packet’s cannot get back out via the portno# +1, then
you will have no server. The Server also polls the regietry server via the
standard http port 80. You may be able to accept players, but will not
    appear on the list cleanly.

Also remember the difference from TCP and UDP in port forwarding. I don’t
remember which it got switched to after ver41, But the router/firewalls will
    have the options for choosing.
If you cannot get any links. Try temporarily turning off all blockages.. The
only barrier then would be your internet service provider. Several also block
Un-necessary ports, but may not inform you of it.

The ISP i used to go thru, Alberta’s Telus.net, would block the “non-vital”
ports. They claimed it was for my protection.. and offered an un-blocked
service for a premium “Hosting Package” fee. I soon switched to Cable instead.
