    On servers hosting a downloadable mod, there’s a server bug
    that halts players, not letting them initialize.

    It happens thus..
    Player 1 connects, Needs the mod, and begins it’s download.
    -then Player 2 connects, Already has the mod.. and wants to play.

    Player 2’s system; loads up ,scans for globalmods, scans for
    usermods, and is ready to load first landscape.. There’s where it Hangs.
    After checking for mods, and before loading the actual game itself.

    Player 1, can complete the download, start up, and play normally,but
    player 2, 3, etc. are still stuck.. unable to initialize

    After player 1 is in the game playing, further joiners can
    successfully initialize and play propperly. Unless one of them
    needs the mod too, which starts it all over again.

    Any members that have experienced this, please note it here
    so we can all see.

    I have seen this once or twice when I was trying to download Scavenger Hunt. The client just sits there at ‘No Mod Files Need Downloading’ once it has downloaded all the files. It doesn’t proceed to load up the map from there like its supposed to. I am not sure of the cause, but Thrax has seen it enough that I am assuming his obvervations about when it occurs are correct.

    I would like to add that out of ten trys to get on scav. mod, I only got lucky twice.

    I tried once downloading the scv hunt and it got stucked..after 1.5 hours of dowloading..
    CBx?

    I didn’t treind again.

    I’ve seen it too, but have been unable to reproduce. I’ll try with the instructions you’ve given and see how I get on.

    there, now 3-4 more people have gotten stuck.. Willis, Irish, Carter,
    and Back-toe all got stuck and had to reconnect a few times while
    testing out the new Classic creation.

    and many others on all the other servers.. speak up, need to see
    who’s really gotten effected.

    Here’s a solution…

    Make the downloading the mod part run in a separate thread…

    Its not quite that simple…its not a blocking issue as the code is fully asycronous. The player/game state must be getting out of sync at some point.

    I’ll have time to have a look at it soon.
