Had a stray thought… the forum has admins, users, and mods.

Why not add an intermediate level to game server control.
    User
    Mod
    Admin.

Admins have full control; dangerous and players call foul often if it’s
    overused.

Why not add a half-step of Mod. Limit control to slap, kick, mute and flag.
With web-console pages of only /players, /chat and a few safe others.

Trusted players that can watch over the game, but not enough power to
change settings, get called cheater, or be tempted to abuse.

Admins can later watch the flagged players for further action, but no-one
will be permanantly effected beyond a perm-mute.

    I like that idea.

Couldn’t hurt. Like admin’s in training 😉 Not a bad idea since admins can’t be there all the time.

I’m not exactly sure what you intended specifically but I like the overall concept … @thrax wrote:

It appears that the entry level positons you are suggesting would be filled by recruiting additional people and granting them the power to change the outcome of a game.

It doesn’t seem like a very good idea when I look at it like that. 😯

Perhaps the powers should be limited to flag, admin chat and mute. These commands can not change the outcome of a game. Slap, poor and kick can easily change the outcome and I suspect that those are the ones that cause the problems you alluded to when you used the words dangerous, abuse, overused and cheater.

Commands that can change the outcome of a game should seldom be used and then only as a last resort.

Granting last resort powers to anyone should be done with great caution.

    Think about it,

is there any kind of way turn a players ability to gift money off or on? that should be a new command.

I like the idea as well, I would think they would only need to be able to MUTE, FLAG, and GIFT OFF, the people.

I’d like to see a “no drive” or “no shield” or other such admin power as well. 🙂

Sounds good I’ll have a look at it.
As far as I remember I changed the game to associate the admin user with every admin operation performed so it should be possible.

On the Main servers I dont think its CURRENTLY an issue though.
Not sure for how much longer, but there has been a nice strong admin presence.
I like to think its because I have gotten SO good that there have been several complaints that I cheat etc. but, thats just my hopes and dreams.

Shouold the admin level drop again though, I definately think it would good to have regs as flaggers so that almost 24/7 there is someone who’s view is trusted, that can say just what WAS gioing on at the time of xxxx as logs dont really give the full story.

Just PLEASE don’t give the LTC that power, I’d be muted MOST of the time 😀
