Well, I have computer access where I work (the United States Postal Service), but I don’t often get to use it because it’s part of a job I only do temporary relief for. So I was assigned to relief last night for the first tie in 4 months, and for the first time since the job required computer access. Well, gaveyard is not very busy in terms of this particular duty, so I’m pretty much left to my own devices most of the time. Granted, the computer is a “corporate resource” and should be treated as such, but allowances are made for limited “personal” use. Anyway, I’m sitting there, bored, and decide to check some of the forums I hit online. But guess what? http://www.scorched3d.co.uk is blocked because it falls under the Games: Violence filter. Frickin’ government filters. So I spent all my time at The Ministry of Abnormality forums instead. 😛

Have you tried a web proxy? I used to use those all the time to get around the Schools filters. Heheh, Bess, that stupid dog…..

I work as a contractor for the air force and it’s pretty locked down on base. i can’t access this page at all, or a lot of other pages. i tried to find a proxy to use, but if you can believe it, they blocked almost all of those too! about the only solution (albeit not for current info) is to search something on google, and then use the google cache of the site, but it won’t have images just text. yeah, filters blow especially if you have down time with nothing better to do, or during lunch break, etc.

It’s things like this that make me glad that I’m the guy who controls that stuff at work. 😉

Ok has anyone else specificly noticed what the filter was called?

    Games: Violence filter

Now really.. if it was only ‘Games Filter’ Sure thats a little uptight but accuratly fits description of the site.

Violence? How is it violent? Heck I still have to say this about people who try to connect violence and video games – how can people be committing violent acts if thier too busy tryin to beat a level of a game??

Or in this case.. How is it violent to blow up coughcbxcough… up with a Death Head? Or blow up in a radial array of colors (Funky) after Ebo kills me? Thus returning the favor?? 🙂

My guess is they just wanted an excuse to block games. Crazy uptight government people stereotyping video games.

You know that makes me very curious, but my fears overcome my curiosity so I’ll leave it alone.

And Willis gets the magic cookie for asking the right question. Apparently, there are some “Games” sites I can hit, although I’ll bet money I don’t play any of those games. 🙄 But yeah, type in the url and get a message:
This site has been blocked for –
    GAMES : VIOLENCE
Remember, blah blah corporation blah blah use monitored blah blah contact support blah blah.

And cbx, how do *you* know about slugporn.com? Checking up on me? Forunately, I know better than to try that one at work.

I wonder how many people tried the URL. (I should buy it, actually ;))

Just a hunch – honest. Hobbes was raving about it one day – something about “full frontal slug nudity” or something….
