First, nice to see someone trying.
The best way to study what the weapons are capable of, is to play the
existing mods and explore what already exists.

Many mods already have versions of Sniping weapons, Power-shots and
rapid-fire high-power cannons. These of course, only work well if the
target is in open view on a plane level or above you.

Playing the game with the standard arcing projectiles from a 1st-person
view is fun, and extremely difficult. I don’t know how you plan to lock
player’s view to 1st-person, But I’ve tried many games with only firing
from the view from my tank. There’s even a Sniper-Scope Tank on
Classic Mod, that lets you look thru it’s crosshairs.

i am really quite new to all this modding processes and anyways its not and entire modification 😛 its mainly to do with the tank shooting and look capabilities which is why im asking for a programmer for the weapon effects / speed etc.

Any change you do to the default pack and settings, is called a Mod.
    No matter how little.
Changing all the prices to cheap and the damages to uber.. still a Mod.
    (Cough-doom)

The way the tanks look are all selectable by players from the assortment
    of Tanks you provide.
The way that they view the field and shoot however, is not controllable.
The game is designed to freely move the camera anywhere, letting you
    see all sides and angles.

All mods are made in XML Tag format, and can be altered. You can change
the weapons methods, but you can’t rewrite the engine’s way of viewing.

    If someone has made changes to weapons, it won’t match the true mods;
and it will be un-done once they connect to any official server.

Before starting your own mod, see if there’s any weapons in other mods
that fit the function that you wish. Chances are, someone’s got a sample
    somewhere.

    This is a great idea!

Will this be a mod, or a total conversion?

Will this be based off of the Scorched 3D engine or what?

Anyways this is very very interesting…

yeh it will be a mod not a total conversion and it will be run on the scorched 3d engine 🙂

I don’t think this has been done yet, so I’ll say it:

Welcome to the Scorched 3D forums. Enjoy your stay. If you need assistance, call room service and ask for Gavin Camp.

Good day to you. Hope you are successful in your modding procedure.

    LOL !

no comments, just makes me laugh 😛

deathstryker, wait till gavin reads it 😛 haha

btw, nice to see some1 trying out models and stuff, looking at other mods, etc…

if you need any help with modelling i would tell u to try asking Inductive, his 3d models are awsome 😉
with programming, hmmm, first of all take a look at the accessory and tag guides here:http://scorched3d.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Main_Page:Scorched3D_v40.1

if you really can’t figure them out, feel free to ask 😉 (i’ll add myself to the “if you need help list”, even though i can’t do much as i’ll have exams next month and i’m studying hard right now.. not even playing anymore, just visiting the forum ) 😥

oki then what i really need is someone that can make the projectiles for the guns say like the uzi = small fast or burst fireing bullets + minimal damage.

and another person that knows about mappings landscapes.

Ok… i’ve already said it 2-3 times in this thread; Play the other mods first.
There’s already models, weapons, and effects of this kind.
Uzi and ak-47 is in Classic Mod.. as well as Sniper-rifles and much more.
Sniper-Mod has many of these types also.

Modding for the goal of making something new and special is great; but
struggling and asking repeatedly, when it already exists, is a bit silly..

i dont want other peoples ideas thats the point 😛 i want to create my own stuff without the help of other mods cause then they are just too similar.

as for the FP pat, I don’t think that’s possible without making a TC.

First, about the TC (total conversion) thing, lets just drop that term since its being thrown around like it means something specific. You want to make a mod thats stuck in first person mode (you cant cause people to be stuck in a specific camera mode currently). You say you dont want to use other peoples ideas but you ask for someone to make the ‘projectiles’ for you. Now, if you make the ak47 weapon model you have done 2 things. You have made a 3d icon for when you have the weapon selected to fire, and you have possibly made a model to use to pick the weapon up off the map. Asking someone to do the rest is asking someone to do most of the work. Thats ok, but, your still not realy using your ideas.

Also, take a look at scorched ops mod, its a great mod bobirov has been working on for awile now. Instead of tanks your guys with guns, there are diffrent classes of guys you can be. It has similar weapons to some your making models of. I’m not bringing it to your attention for any other reason then it sounds similar to what your trying to do.

The point is, the whole fun part of making a mod is acualy making the weapons, the xml side of it. Just makeing the models isn’t nearly half the work. Just dive into it.

    http://www.scorched3d.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Game_modding_%26_3D_modeling

Check all the info on that link. Just about everything you need to know is right there. Start by looking at some weapons you like in other mods and then figure out how they work. You will no doubt have tons of questions when you start messing with the xml, and as long as you at least make some sort of attempt to figure it out on your own, there are tons of people that will help you out. Just narrow your questions down to small bits and you will be suprised how much help you recieve.

Good luck, its not very tough 🙂

Oh and btw, your models are looking great. What kind of triangle counts do they have?
