Great work BTW, let me know if there are any other areas that are mad and need explaining.

I was doing the page for the landscape event files and I noticed there is an event condition type I don’t believe I’ve seen used before. How does condition type=”random” work?

A description of it and it’s two tags randomchance and randomdelay would be helpful. I’ve looked at it a bit and have a pretty good idea of what’s happening there I think. But, I’d like to get an official description as I’ve never used it. πŸ™‚

    😯 You haven’t?!?!?

The randomchance tag is the chance that the item will be droped that round. it goes from 0 = 0% and 1= 100&

Randomdelay is the delay for the drop in seconds.

As you can see above I only let the crate fall 25% of the time and have it drop as soon as it can. From what I tried anything above 33% and you seem to have 1 drop every turn. It could just be me though.

Did jdog just explain a syntax to Bob?

    From my eventstankdrop.xml:

    0.1
    4.0

    TankDrop

Yields a 1/10 chance of tank drop.

P.S. It’s odd, I coulda swore I stole that from your events. lol

Odd, I swear I’ve never seen it used. πŸ˜›

I use the time condition on my cargo drop events, and all the rest of them. I’m wondering where you guys saw this to know that it was there. I just noticed it when I was looking at the event code. πŸ˜›

The odd bit, for me, is that I don’t recall where I gathered it from… coulda swore it was you. (Just habit telling me that, I guess. lol)

Mighta been Jdog, maybe, just MAYBE, *gasp*, I got it from the code. πŸ˜‰

I do remember discovering it – I was tinkering with your cargo drop, and it wasn’t what I wanted – I wanted a “1/x” chance, an lo and behold, there it is. lol

btw: Thanks for the work. πŸ™‚
I’ve been working all day on a new map, I was hoping
you’d post a “placement” doc today, but no dice. πŸ˜‰ I
learned a TON today about placements, however,
between the two of us we should be able to come up
    with something really good. πŸ™‚

If you got it from me I’m in bad shape because I really don’t remember seeing it. πŸ˜›

I did get the placement docs fleshed out. I just haven’t filled in all the descriptions yet. But, its ready to be filled in. So feel free to pop in a description or two if you get a moment. πŸ™‚

I seem to be getting that way too….

The map I’ve been working on for DAYS now is getting out of hand. The Placements file is up to 29k and growing fast! 😯

I blame YOU for this, Bob!

I have never touched the whole “WeaponLightning” bit before… Gav, any comments on the following (esp. the “not sure” bits ;)):

    @Da Wiki wrote:

^ width of the lightning segments
    #
^ amount the width can vary? not sure
    #
^ minimum width of the bolt? not sure

    #
    ^ not sure
    #
^ probability that the bolt will stop at a given segment

    #
^ total life time of the lightning particles, in seconds
    #
^ amount of damage done to tanks per segment
    #
^ radius within which segments will do damage
    filename or none
^ sound to play for this bolt, none = no sound

Also, is the lightning “laserish” in the way it travels/does damage?

btw: Been spending the past couple weeks working on a map – I wanted lightning for when the “Powerhouse” is shot, but didn’t wanna spend too long figuring it out. πŸ˜‰

If you’re looking for a single bolt, the code is:

    90
    3
    2
    3
    -1
    0.1
    0.0
    0.00
    0.00
    0.2
    0.3
    1
    7
    7
    none

At least, this has always given me one bolt, never more.

What I use for many bolts is:

    90
    4
    2
    5
    -1
    0.1
    0.5
    0.03
    0.01
    0.5
    0.3
    1
    0.9
    7
    none

There, try that and see if ya like it. πŸ˜›
Adjust the splitprob down if you want fewer bolts.
