Had a thought as i was working a while back, trying to design shields.

We have Half-shield option for mag’s and Umbrella style defence, but
they are only about 1/3.. and only on top.

Would it be possible to add a front-facing option for that?
my idea is for a Front-side defence, eg. a Knight’s Shield..

It would slide the half-shield to center on the aiming point. Covering
the tank’s front, but leaving the back exposed.

    Opinions?

was wondering, have not played with them yet, but do the new square shields accomplish the idea here?

Nope, so far Square shield’s can only be full, not half.
You can change it’s dimentions, but not it’s direction.

The use of them can be many, from Cube shields, to an Impenetrable
Maze. But still have to use all 6-sides.

    like shown in Wiki-Docs Here,
x/y/z for area dimentions, and same other variables for a round shield.

    Mag’s can’t use square..

Perhaps adding an position offset for the square shield would allow a similar (although fixed) solution.

That sounds like a good idea. As it is now they are centered at ground level so that half the shield is below ground anyways. It’d be nice to be able to offset it upward some to eliminate that if you wanted to.

One thing I would like to see that shields rotate with the object they are bound to myself personally. That way I you could set the square shields at angles. You cannot do that currently, so if you want to use the square shields for walls you are limited to having them at 90 degree angles. Just another thing I have been thinking about.

If those two things were implemented, Thrax would have his forward facing shields he wants so badly. And I would have the ability to set shield walls however I please. 😉

    Just saw this thread…

I though of similar things before, but what I really wanted was simply to be able to create a shield that was essentially the opposite of the halfshield, just shield around the sides.
My idea was that I could have two versions: One low one, just to stop rollers, and a slightly higher one to stop “sniper shots” (low angle, full power)

And while we’re at it, let’s add a feature to them too! 🙂
