Peanut, I’d be interested in seeing a benchmark of that 8800 512Mb, if you don’t mind. I’d like to know how much of a jump the G92 architecture really is.

Yea im gonna benchmark em both, just got new hard drive for it all too.

Supreme commander, forged alliance is gonna be the biggest show off for step up from this 7100.
Barely getting 1 fps running dual screen at even low settings @ 1024.

A great place to see some real time extreme testing done by professionals & novice users–A treasure trove of information here. Enjoy πŸ˜‰

I would like to see results on that 8800/512 card also.

Erm, im guessing the bigger the number the better the performance?

Well, I hope so. Otherwise I wasted a whole boatload of money. I did another test with cutting my background tasks, here is my result:
(Clicky) Got me a couple hundred more points.

I did just slap in 2 Gbs more of RAM (yeah, I know, 32-bit only recognizes 3 Gbs, but it was only $37 USD). Wonder if that will affect anything…..

    Is this a contest then? : )

I’m trying very hard not to bite. I could SO easily cheat.

I know what you mean, only with my system, but I could aquire a quad core, 4GB and an 8800GT with some nice overclocks going on… that, would be sweet.

It is quite a nice lil compo tho, just track peoples upgrades and tweaks, that is, if mine didnt crash everytime on this install

its running on a 533 bus I think and will be single core.
new benchmarking tools dont tend to rate older hardware too well, like massive hits for being single core, not having latest instruction sets etc..

Well, I guess PC wizard doesnt rate video performance too high for the overall rating, with almost a 100x higher score now, the overall barely increases.

The other thing I have noticed is that Lappy WOOPED my video score with his single 6800GT compared to my 8800GT 512MB.
I can only assume that it doesnt take advantage of the stream processors very well, indicating its age.

Lappy, fancy a 3dmark test, as I am very curious as to how we compare?

I’d be interested in this as well. My 6600 seems to do a decent job on main, generally 19 FPS at full max settings. You get better performance that that I hope.

yes, it seems very cpu biased. synthetic benchmarks – the score doesn’t mean much. it’s showing an unrealistic gain for dual core cpu’s.

    no – 2 x 6800gt sli.

and, not really. i don’t want to get into a contest here. (i would cheat and you would lose ; )

    from memory though (roughly):

    2 x 6800GT: 8,000
    2 x 7900GT: 10,000

similar dual core cpu’s at about 2.8ghz

7,000 in 3dmark ’06 is very respectable for a single card. i’m sure that would outperform a similar scoring sli in real world.

yes, ffs. crop your images and use indexed png for captured windows.

could we also please post images as images so i don’t have to log in, and could we all please boycott any image hosting sites that don’t allow hotlinking.

I was going to resize, but its a new toy and as i’ve been banging on about getting screen n stuff, ya might be pleased to know I have it. Therefore the banging on will soon fade πŸ˜›

    As for a contest…

how would it be a contest, this supposed to be a thread about PC hardware to assist in new purchases right?
the only contest would be who’s spending the most on their system, tweaking will only get you so far or you’d have to doctor the result.
