    Hey all,

    Just thought I would inform you all that gavin will be going to start on adding bases code very soon.

    and thought why don’t we do as we did with v39 and make it competitive
    so the winner of the best 2 bases submited gets their bases
    added in the regular scorched3d game :D.

    just a thought & *not verified*

    If you are’nt firmiliar with the bases/goals theme the way it should work
    is players can team up with others to acomplish goals by
    *destroying bases*. a new feature that may soon be added.

    what we need here is both ideas for bases & submited models
    then we can start a 30 day pole to vote for winners. 🙂

    for those who can’t or don’t know how to 3d model you can post
    some ideas & pictures wich may help others :D.

    I know I will be needing some mini hoth/tatooine
    bases so if anyone wants to get them added to scorch wars
    what we need is..

    of low poly count models of both for regular scorched
    and for scorch wars per bases…2 versions of each.

    the regular base version & the burnt version of the same base.
    *when destroyed* the burnt version will look like a pile of rubble.

    also keep in mind it has to be small enough to be shielded so
    not too huge.

    so hurry up & get started!!! and may the best man/woman win 😉

    Good idea. The current CVS version allows bases (or targets) to be added. A target is a model that has full physics (like a tank), and can also use parachutes and shields (but not fire).

    I was wanting a good landscape with two bases in it so I could test some stuff.

    The next stage is to have AI’s that are part of the level, like perhaps gun turrets of the base or something similar…

    A few questions… before the requests flood forth
    NOTE: Boy aint got a clue to making models just yet, he is just gameplay idea man

    Exactly How large can the shields get? I hear that shields radius will be specified (if anyone did not knkow, the models can be nearly as big as you want)
    ie: one shielded model can cover multiple units or base stations

    will there be any sort of way to link two or more models together?
    ie. destroy remote shield generator — rendering hoth base shield disabled.

    I had no clue what type of base to make just for testing purps

    so I just threw this ole *pile o junk* together
    it’s a missle silo bunker 😛

    ((DeStroY the BunkeR it has a nucular warhead in it!!))

    Question: What is the relative scale of the bases? (ie: same as tank, 10x bigger, that sort of thing)

    Should be the same scale, but you can obviously make the models bigger.

    Any chance of having an animated flag blowing in the breeze on top? 😀

    Not to get off topic, do you have or need a model for powerup “crate” yet?

    I have too many ideas for a base….

    If you animate the model it will flap (however not in the right direction obviously 🙂 ).

    heres a power crate so you dont have to use a bannana 😛

    though I spose you could use this for a fuel cell or something else
    if jdog already sent one.

    well this is what I have been working on and my submission
    for the challenge.

    *though* I must have been confused in what boy said and thought
    bases *could* have seperate units but, it was already 2 late and
    already started work on it and was close to being done *sniffle* .

    owell, if we cant use it now, perhaps later on..
    and now you will have something to test (multiple unit bases) with. 😀

    this is a coms site and added cambos turret 2 tank into its mix
    so it can shoot at players & have defence capabilitys.

    it would make sence to place other turret 2’s about the map
    in its goals team theme as the bases (team) defence.

    It may seem like theres alot of polys ..
    but its just textured to look that way 😉

    poly count: 1600 triangles total
    *not bad* I spose for the overall look.

    I still need to work on the burnt version and should have that finished
    hopefully by tomorrow sometime.

    hmm.. now that I am thinking on that subject perhaps I should make
    3 burnt versions with other units in tact.

    so a player shoots & destroys only the shield generator (or) turret2
    then the others would remain unburnt 😀

    also you probly need to have it on a flat mask area on the map
    otherwise it may not look right & I left it in .m3d format so you can
    easily scale it to your likeing.

    anyhows, heres the zip & screenshot with explinations
    *wich is ofcourse *up to you* how you choose it to work best
    if you ever want to add the feature: combo unit bases.

    I think what cb meant is will bases support multi clored flags
    that indicate whos bases are whos.

    wich up until now I had’nt thought of *DOH*!!

    maybe you can add code to make this happen and have 1 flag model
    with the same amount of colors as the players have to choose from
    even if you use many of the same model with a dif color
    a miniscule poly count for 1 box & a plane that animates
    should’nt be too bad.

    im just wondering how you can indicate where the flag goes
    on any given model *scratches head*

    owell your the brains I just work/annoy here LOL

    You can have seperate units, as many as you want.
    You can also have units inside another units shields etc…

    I think what Boy was asking for was a generator outside the shield that would stop the shield of another unit when destroyed.
