The Scorched3D servers already have an option to prevent anyone else from joining and rebooting when the server is empty. But the backup isn’t joined into this system.
A replication server seems to be the only way to guarentee uptime, seems a bit odd most other servers allow live backup using the transaction log when the server is locked.
However, when the server is crowded and the game is very close with several players capable of taking the win, the kicking of selected players causes hard feelings and suspicions to flare up. The idea being that someone did that with malicious intent and forethought of purpose.
Whatever the method choosen, this is a serious issue that has been long ignored. I wish you goodspeed in finding a suitable resolution.
